Overall it is a good college. Well why should it not be, you have to clear an entrance exam and then participate in a 3 round counseling to get in here. Admission process is straightforward which happens after the counseling is done. The cut-off of B.Tech biotech is not very high compared to other courses that ask the same criteria that is JEE rank. There will be instances when you have to get along with other B.Tech students for projects and other things, this way, you will work with two colleges at a time. As of currently our college is only giving biotech courses in B.Tech.

I opted for mechanical engineering in the UTU counseling but I got biotech and that too in the second round. This way I landed here in biotech branch. Slowly I came to realize that our branch has a great potential. Also, biotech from Pantnagar has more credits than many other Govt. colleges offering biotech in India. This way it is a good thing. Also in our degree program of four years, we will be facing many practical which will be supported by the colleges. For this purpose, only biotech students have to pay some extra fees, which is also mentioned in our fees-structure.

Here you will find every faculty member to be highly experience in their subject. The professors are strict. But the markings on the exams are lenient; it is just that the professors are much disciplined when they are in college or in class teaching. Their notes are very helpful in preparation of GATE and other engineering exams. Needless to say, these notes are more than enough for university level exams. Every year you will give 6 exams that counts to 3 exams every semester. Report card here is made on yearly basis while the fees and exams are taken on semester basis. The attendance criteria is told to be 80% but around 65-75% you will not face much problems, while it is important you maintain your attendance, otherwise you can get sure back on your subject, which will be highlighted on your report card.

In Pantnagar you will see, students are preparing for govt. exams like UPSE and other exams like CAT, GATE, IES, etc. more than placements. While for biotech this data is even larger, because in biotech branch there are not many companies ready to hire students. Instead, it is a research field so students either go for higher studies or dive into research field after their degree. Also once it happened a biotech student got the highest on campus placement from our college. But if you want to sit for maximum placements rounds, you must learn programming or at least that is required in placements, so you can sit for maximum companies if placements are your goal.

Our hostel that is given to biotech students is very near to college. This convenience has its own benefits; you don’t have to walk much under the sun during summers. Boy’s hostels are bit far than girls hostel from college. Apart from few days, maximum time of any student is generally spent on college and hostels only. Besides that, you have to stay with your seniors and juniors in a single hostel for your entire degree program. There is a mess in your hostel which is like a giant room with chairs and tables in an ordinary fashion and a counter for food. Food quality is nice, you can expect good food also sometimes from mess. Sanitization is done regularly, but the hostel building is old so it does not matter much, it stays the same.

Infrastructure of Pantnagar colleges are great, you get green surroundings all around you, which is an amazing feeling. There are so many cafeterias in the campus, especially the restaurants in markets which are normally full during the seasonal days. You can visit so many places there for fun. The places are quite photogenic, and beautiful enough you will not get bore for four years at least. For long visits with your friends you can go to nearby cities like Haldwani, Rudrapur, Kicha, Nainital, etc.

Campus life of students here gets more spicy and fun during fests time. There is so much fun you can do in fests, dancing, music, playing, etc. Apart from attending fests of other colleges, and your own college you can also take part in fest and conduct them which is also very memorable. My favorite fests here were colosseum, saharang, etc. You will make unlimited memories here when you look back your hostel days and the fun you had. Nowadays, most of the courses might be running in online mode, but let’s hope you have a chance to live here in this beautiful city and enjoy your college life.
