The Real Deal: An Insider's Review of Assam Engineering College, Guwahati

Overall Rating
My experience till now is positive, ASTU has strong academic framework. The university offers a big range of programs in Engineering Science and Technology. I came here because of my low marks in JEE. We can choose to go to the ASTU, if we have a dream to do engineering and if the vast syllabus of JEE is blocking us. Here within required knowledge we can do engineering and can find jobs.
 

Academics Rating
In ASTU we have different programs in B.Tech like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, and Industrial and Production Engineering. We can get admitted to ASTU by giving the "CEE" exam. The only thing I want to say is, if you have a dream to do engineering and because of some silly reason you're not getting seat in JEE, then ASTU is the right place to take admission in.
 

Faculty Rating
Till now, as per my experience, the facility members are highly qualified and are very approachable. They do hard work to teach the students. They organise their time to conduct lectures, seminars, laboratory works, workshops, recharge projects and many more. They teach from the basics and which is good to understand.
 

Placement Rating
Yes we have a placement cell at our institute. The university provides Pre-Placement Training. Various companies visit here for on-campus recruitment.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, our institute has residential facilities. We have hostels, but the condition of some of the hostels is not so good. The Assam government has to work in maintaining the hostels.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructures are old. they should start working on the maintenance of the buildings and the classrooms. Some of the classrooms are good enough but some of them are damaged, old and bad in looks. The hostel building is also not that good.
 

Campus Rating
Campus is good only. They have trees around which keeps the environment of the university green and keep the environment cool than the city area. The campus is designed to support both the academic activities and the extra-curricular activities like sports.

    The college provides the much needed learning environment. It has a total of 8 engineering branches with highly qualified professors to guide you throughout the 4 years of your journey. There are several clubs which helps us develop our technical skills. Furthermore, every year our institute conducts several games and tournaments and also a 4 days grand fest in the month of February.     Assam Science & Technology University is commonly known as ASTU. ASTU is a technical institute where all the students are taught about technical things as well as the human nature.     Overall Rating
    I can say overall the college is good. You can be a part of this college by getting good marks in CEE (Common Entrance Examination), if you are 12th passed with minimum 50% in PCM or you can get good marks in JLEE if you are an engineering diploma student.     ASTU is a university situated in Jalukbari, Guwahati. It is a technical university having more than 6 colleges under it. It has better facilities for education and has a proper curriculum which is released for every academic year. Hence, I personally have a better experience though there are some loopholes....
