Goenka College is a good choice for those who are primarily focused on academics. It offers excellent guidance through the faculty and very competitive environment compared to other government college in Kolkata. When I completed my higher secondary education, my teacher strongly recommended this college due to its reputation. My overall experience has been positive, as my main interest lies in studies rather than extracurricular activities. As I mentioned before those who are serious about their studies and career should consider applying here. Additionally, the level of politics in this college is relatively low compared to other government colleges.

At this college, the only course available for undergraduate students is B.Com Honors. The admission process is conducted online and is based on merit, specifically the marks obtained in class 12th. A minimum of 85% in class 12th is required to be eligible for admission. Only 5 out of every 100 applicants are admitted, so you should be proud if you get the chance to enroll in this college.

The faculty at this college is highly qualified and very strict about their duties. There are four teachers available for each subject every semester to ensure the syllabus is completed on time. Most of the teaching staff are very experienced in their fields and provide proper guidance to the students.

This college conducts a placement drive every year, but the probability of getting hired is relatively low. The reality is that you need additional special qualities along with your B.Com degree to secure a job nowadays. However, I can assure you that it has a better placement record compared to other government colleges in Kolkata.

The infrastructure of this college is not as great compared to other colleges. It has five floors, including an auditorium and a library on the second and third floors, respectively. All the classrooms are equipped with projectors, but in my three years here, they have never been used. There is a common room with table tennis and carom available for students, and a canteen was recently opened on campus.

Campus life for a Goenka student is straight forward. You must attend college regularly to maintain a minimum of 75% attendance. The college has approximately 1,500 students. Although there are no specific clubs, students can participate in various inter-college programs. The college also hosts an annual sports day and conducts seminars on career and other important topics.
