My overall experience in my college in this one year has been good enough. Like any other student starting their college life, I was very much anxious about how it would be, whether I could fit in with the new crowd, how will I overcome with studies and coding and also have a social life. But honestly after a month that anxiety started to leave my mind. The faculty, overall the whole college has such a friendly vibe that you will feel like you made a good choice in selecting your college! Coming to the topic of selection of college, I chose this college simply on the basis of its location. My college is just at a half an hour distance from my home, so this was the best of the choices I had my parents thought. Also, while talking about experience I should definitely mention how friendly and supportive my college seniors are. In the recent times of constant cases of bullying, I can assure you this college felt like the safest place on earth.

I am pursuing B.Tech in CSE from Guru Nanak Institute of Technology. This is a rigorous course of 4 years with many subjects, some of which you might find unnecessary but that is the curriculum set by the Educational Board of India. Entry requirements is a decent rank in JEE or WBJEE. Ranks around 67000 is enough in my opinion as I had that kind of rank. Anyone who has passed boards of class X and XII and also participated in competitive exams like JEE and WBJEE are eligible. My motive behind enrolling in this program is to pursue my dream course of CSE which luckily I got also. I love developing software and websites and this course will definitely help me in my journey of pursuing development as my career is what I thought while choosing my course.

While coming to faculty, that is a big portion to cover but I will try my best to provide a detailed review on it. Being in first year, I am still not that much exposed to the entire faculty as such but till now my experience has been mixed. Like in first year we are under ASHU department (Applied Science and Humanities) and faculty of this department is not bad. Mathematics department is best among ASHU subjects. The teachers have great grip on their subjects and honestly they teach in a way that you will learn your lesson in class only. Not much impressed with chemistry department though but the rest like physics and humanities, the faculties of these are good. Also I had classes with my department's (CSE Department) faculty too and there is no question that they are the best. Most charming thing about faculty is they are not scary, quite friendly rather. We can ask our doubts without hesitation.

Yes, we do have a placement cell at our institute but I don't think it is of much help because if it was, more seniors would have got a job on campus. Only approximately 25 students got job this year from our department. Not sure about the number but it was around this only.

Yes, we have residential facilities in our institute. Though I am a day scholar but I once went to the hostel to check its facilities. Not bad but also not good. Food is not up to the mark, rooms are more or less hygienic enough but I did not like the bathrooms. They have common bathrooms. Girl’s hostel has a deadline of 7 PM and no outsiders are allowed in. Boy’s hostel has a deadline of 9.30 PM.

Guru Nanak Institute of Technology has a very beautiful infrastructure. The campus, blocks, buildings, and library all are very beautiful and clean. There are four buildings: IT, pharmacy, hotel management and dental. All the buildings are well maintained. And have two gates for students to enter from two directions. Parking facility is also available. Our IT department has 5 floors and each floor has washrooms in it. Classrooms are well equipped, labs have ACs. Overall infrastructure of our institute is really good.

From my experience, campus life is great. The crowd of this institute really resonated with me. There are people for all types of interests. There is a crowd dedicated to coding, another for cultural activities, and other for sports. Clubs for different activities are also present: Cultural Club, Coding Club, Cyber Security Club, GSOC Club, Cloud Computing Club, and many more. The fests here are really fun.
