Life in D.A.V College

Overall Rating
D.A.V College is considered as the second best college in Chandigarh, which is affiliated with Panjab University. It has its own vibe; students coming from all over Haryana, Himachal and children of defense personnel make this place very unique. But, this college is best for those who are more into fun than studies as it is a place where fun and social life precedence over academics. Although it acknowledges that academic success is possible for those who are motivated.
 

Academics Rating
Getting B.Com course in this college is quite tough for people who want to enroll and are not from Chandigarh as they come into outside UT poll, Here UT poll students (students who did their schooling from Chandigarh) will be given preference. Honours will be provided from second year only and to those who have secured more than 65% in 1st year. Well, Academic success depends heavily on individual effort and motivation.
 

Faculty Rating
There are best and the worst both types of faculty member are there in this course. Few will understand you and will try to always be there for you. Few will always try to belittle you. It depends on you how you take it. Well in terms of teaching skills, each of them is best in their fields. It totally depends on person to person, if you feel like studying this college is best. However, if you want to have fun in life and want to enjoy then also this is college is best.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we do have placement cell in our college, but there are limited placement and with very low CTC so not worth it. In short no placement facilities provided by the college, which means students, need to actively seek out other opportunities. However, it emphasizes that students should be prepared to take initiative in their academic pursuits and job search.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure of this college is eye catching, have a very beautiful red painted brick walls. Have a spacious and well maintained campus and clean classroom. One of the best things I have come across in this college is while in summers during exams, they provide you cold water bottle for free. Overall, the value for money as it has reasonable tuition fees as compared to quality of education and facilities.
 

Campus Rating
It has very vibrant campus life, especially during elections time, each club and societies has its own authenticity and a very unique way to present themselves. You will surely learn a lot from these societies, it will definitely help you to up-skill yourself. Well campus is little small, but is always energetic means everyone is out there, one thing or another. Different activities are always happening in this college which provides a learning experience.

    My overall experience in the college was average. The course is a bit overcrowded having over 1000 students in BA. My reason behind choosing this course was the easy entry to get in as only 50% marks are required to get into the course. There are good things like the events and fests that they organize. DAV College has a good reputation, but I chose this because it has more than just study, which I really like a lot. There are different clubs and you can join them & learn and grow with a team....     DAV College, Chandigarh is a decent college to get your degree. It has a number of opportunities for your extra co-curricular activities. It also offers you good exposure for sports.
