IIMT University BJMC Review By Harsh Vardhan

Overall, my first year experience at IIMT University was wonderful. I chose this university due to its location, which is near the NCR area. This university provides countless opportunities for further career growth. Besides this, the practical knowledge of this field is necessary for the students to have a basic experience to flourish themselves in their career.

The course I am enrolled in is BAJMC (Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication) also known as Mass Communication in general. This is a 3-year bachelor course. For admission, the student must have passed 12th with a minimum of 50%. After completing this course, there are a variety of career options including a journalist, reporter, anchor, voice over artist in a company, etc. My main motive for being enrolled in this course was to get an opportunity to prove myself in the creative field.

The faculty of IIMT University is known for their supportive and friendly nature with the students. The faculties of my course are very qualified. Most of them have their master’s degree while some of them even have a doctorate degree. Almost all of them have an experience in the practical field. They are very approachable and listen to almost all the problems of students.

This course doesn't provide any placements here. This course may find you a job but you have to do it on your own. By the meaning of own, I mean the teachers and other networks which you must develop during your time in this university will make it extremely easy to find an internship or a job. For instance, during my first year I had so many opportunities for internships at several places such as a RJ at a radio station, an intern reporter at Dainik Jagran, an intern at City Hulchul and many more. Hence, the ability to quickly grasp skills and opportunities bring you internships and jobs in this field.

IIMT University has hostel in the campus. The hostel provides two kinds of rooms which are AC and Non-AC. The total hostel fees last year were Rs.85,000 and this year it has been increased to Rs.1,00,000. The hostel provides double occupancy rooms with an attached washroom which helps to maintain hygiene. Besides room facilities, cleaning facilities, water and electricity supply, laundry, gym and mess facility are also available in the hostel. The mess food is good as compared to other places. But sometimes you may taste the food to be average.

The campus of this university is quite big. The lush green environment makes the mind and body happy when you are in the campus. The number of elements in this university makes it quite interesting. It is like a small world containing almost everything. There are many opportunities for sports including cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, boxing, swimming, horse riding, etc. Yoga classes are also held in the morning. There is a temple in the campus. There is also a hospital in the campus known as IIMT Lifeline Hospital which gives free check-ups to the hostellers by checking their Id cards. A swimming pool is available in the campus as well.

There are several clubs such as the USR club, Music club, Yoga club, Sports club, Arts club and many more which makes the flow of extracurricular activities so smooth. Several fests are also organised for instance the Alumni Meet, Technical fests, Cultural fests such as ‘Nritya Samagam’ and many more functions are regularly held.
