AP Goyal Shimla University B.Tech Review By Shikha Sareen

I always wanted to study in the Mother Nature’s lap. This is why I chose AP Goyal Shimla University for my higher education. It is situated on the borders of Shimla city, on a hill top. It is a great place for learning as it is far away from the hustle and bustle, pollution, and noise of the city and surrounded by greenery everywhere. It is one of the top-ranked universities in Shimla having a global accreditation with an easy admission process and excellent educational methods. And the best part is that the entire management, staff, and students were quite friendly and cooperative. It would be a nice place to kick-start your future.

I pursued Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from this university. I checked the eligibility criteria for this degree in this university online. I was very happy to see that I was eligible for admission. All I needed to do was to clear the entrance exam and that I did well. My goal was to become an engineer and that’s why I opted for this course and the subjects all were relevant to me. Throughout my whole degree, I never found any drawback of studying there. I must say today what I have become is only because of this university.

It was a long time ago, this is why I am not aware of the exact number of faculty members in my stream and but it was 10 in number as far as my knowledge is concerned. All professors and faculty members were trained, experienced, and diligent in their particular streams. Their teaching method was marvelous. What I liked about this university is that the practical sessions, professors provide to students, which help them to learn well.

While selecting any college/university to study, placements is one of the essential factors that play a key role. Of course, it should be and I was also keen to know about the placements procedure at that time. There were good placement opportunities offered to us. There is a separate training and placement cell handling placements of students from different streams. Every year, one of the highly ranked and renowned companies visit our university campus for recruitment. And our teachers guide well to students through personality development classes. The highest salary was 10 lacs per annum in my batch and the average was 4 lacs per annum provided to students who got first class grades in the course.

I had never been to the hostel. But I heard from my friends that the hostel life was good and they experienced a lot of things while staying in the hostel. There were more than 50 rooms in the hostel premises and every room accommodated 2 students at that time. Of course, girls and boys have a separate hostel with various amenities like laundry room, TV, study tables, etc. The fee structure for hostel accommodations in those years were 70-80k per annum. Talking about the food, there were different cuisines provided to students coming from different areas of the world. The management performs regular inspections to maintain the quality of the food. All students feel safe and secure like their homes in a hostel under the supervision of wardens.

My main attraction to study there was the surroundings and of course, the best infrastructure and quality education. There was a huge campus with many buildings for different departments. It was equipped with all the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and facilities. Students got well-maintained and modern classrooms, workshops, laboratories, auditoriums for group discussions, and a library. Of course, there was a big playground, cafeteria, and a medical room for students.

I had a great campus life in this university. I came out from my comfort zone for the first time when I took admission there, but I never felt insecure and unsafe. The whole management encouraged students to take part in extracurricular activities for their personal growth. Even, I became a part of every festival celebration, competitions like debates, dancing, etc. I enjoyed to the fullest while studying in this university.
