St Joseph's College Devagiri B.Sc Review By Fiza Jafar

I got admission in this College in 2023. I was over the moon when I was told I got admission in there as everyone knows that St Joseph's College Devagiri is one of the best colleges in our country with all the facilities and services available for students and staffs. My overall experience in the college was mind blowing. I am not someone who gets attached to places easily but I was head over heels the moment I step a foot in my campus. The faculty and staff members are always so helpful and supportive of our every need. We have students of different cultures and traditions but together we are all one big family. Our college stands on top academic terms also. Our campus is so beautiful and green. It has a soothing vibe and can help us focus on our studies without distractions. I definitely will refer all to come and take admission in this college.

I am currently pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry so I can only speak about my course. Chemistry department is really good. The entry requirement for our college is merit and interview. Your marks in the 12th standard are the criteria for selection and only the top students get into this college. Of course not just academics, other factors like sports, NSS, NCC and grace marks are also considered. After the verification, there is a short review as well and then you'll be admitted to the college. All the students who are interested in studying Chemistry should consider getting admission in this college as we have the best faculty, academic help and definitely one of the top colleges in Kerala.

Faculty members are supportive as they guide us to score the best but they don't force us. They let us know about every opportunity and often tell us about the current internships and courses that are available which can help us gain practical knowledge. They have innate way of teaching us and they just know how to help the students. Our teachers are very educated and experienced. Almost all of them have finished their Ph.D degree and have resorted to teaching. They have progressive style of teaching.

Yes we have a placement cell at the college and it is really helpful. Last year, almost 28 students of my department were placed in several companies which were more than 50 % of total students. So I would say that the placement cell in our college is very successful. Some of the regular recruiters are Esaf Bank, South Asian Bank, Federal Bank, Infosys etc.

We have hostel facility for boys in our college. The building of hostel is named Tagore. Girls usually stay in PGs and other hostels near our college. Since the college has boys’ hostel and I am not a boy so I don't know much about it.

Our campus infrastructure is out of the world. It's really beautiful and developed. Our academic blocks are well made and furnished. In total we have 3 academic blocks, one for aided courses and the remaining for self finance courses. We have a newly constructed building and it has ten floors. We have elevators in both the buildings along with AC as well. Our class rooms are digitalized and most of our classes are taken through projectors. We have very good Computer Labs, Gym, Printing Room, Cafeteria and Practical Laboratory for each course along with the a beautiful library. The Library was newly built and has everyone stare at it in amazement. It has a wide variety of book. We also have various study areas in the libraries where we can have privacy to study.

We have great campus life. Our college has several fests, clubs, and festivals at regular intervals. There are many events that help students to showcase their talent. We have Ethnic Day, Holi, Halloween, Nirvana, Onam, Christmas, B-Zone, interpose programs, and many more. All of them are celebrated in a grand manner. Our students are united together to make the events a huge success. We have several clubs like sports club, literally clubs, science club, math club, etc.
