Bokaro Steel City College B.A Review By Aastha Kumari

I graduated from Bokaro Steel City College. Spending three years of my academic life there gave me enough authority to write review about it. Starting with admission, the process of admission is mostly online. Students have to fill online forms and then wait for their names in cut-off list. Remaining process involves submission of documents and some more things, which are quite easy. The college management is not so well structured. There are various persons assigned for different work but getting something done easily is not always a cup of tea. Sometimes students have to juggle between different persons and places for getting small things done. One can gain much more than just bookish knowledge if they want. Seminars and various other events take place there. Overall the college is decent if you are on budget and looking for a good college.

I had enrolled for Bachelors in Arts, English Honors. For that or for enrolling in any stream, applicant must have 45% or above marks in subjects mentioned in application. There will be no entrance exams, only cut-off lists. I had enrolled for English literature, to level up my English in day to day life. I hadn't thought much about the scopes in that field. But as getting closer to my finals, I started to get a clearer view of my career. The faculty of English is also helpful if you ask about anything related to career or Subject matter. But getting direct benefit from opting English is not there. You have to enroll for some other program or some other preparation is needed to get a job.

There were 4 faculty for English there. But the number is not consistent throughout every subject. But, it can be assured that the faculties there have deep knowledge and understanding of their respective subject. Plus, most of them have a good experience in teaching. Most of them have a PhD degree. But it mostly depend upon them that how much they want to teach students. If they want, they will take class and if don't want, they won't. There is no system who keeps a check on the faculties that they are working properly or not. The faculties of English are good in the terms of taking class, solving queries and doubts of student, helping students and keeping a record of everything.

I had heard some times about placements in this college but never be able to find as such. In three years, I hadn't seen a single placement drive or companies hiring students there. There is no proper information about any campus placement, jobs opportunity or companies visiting campus available for all students. Also, there is no training provided by college. The students get only degree but no training or anything that will help in getting job.

I had heard from some students that the hostels are there, provided by college. There is separate girls and boys hostel. I had never seen the hostel from inside so can't describe about it. On the basis of information that I had heard, I can say that the water and food facility is decent there.

The campus area of the college is large. The college is spacious. Every building has proper rooms with good ventilation. Whether it is library, classroom or lab, there is proper space and ventilation there. Speaking of laboratory, it has all necessary equipment needed for experiments done by student and Professor. The library is good but doesn't have new edition books. There are two big auditoriums in the college to carry out all cultural activities. One of the auditoriums is well equipped but devices are old and need to be upgraded. There is one canteen in the campus but it needs to be upgraded as sometimes the snacks and chairs are unavailable. Also, the variety of things available in canteen is less. There is a small garden and a big playground but both are not taken care of well. Overall the campus and infrastructure is okay.

The life in the campus is enjoying. There are various events happening around the year where students can take part and show their talents. Youth festival is most popular among them. Students present their college in University Youth festival and present cultural activities there. Student can be the member of NCC and NSS group in college and take part in various activities organized by them. There is no thing like annual fest in the college. There are various student clubs where student can complain and get help from seniors and leaders who take part in college elections. It can b stated that the campus life is not very great but not bad overall.
