Bokaro Steel City College B.Sc Review By Ankit Jha

I choose the Bokaro Steel City College because I had no other options. It was the COVID-19 lockdown period and my 12th board results came out very late in July of 2020. Most of the colleges had already closed their admissions by then. City college is very close to where I live and I had already planned to pursue my graduation with B.Sc Physics which was available at city college. The fees is very affordable (around 2500 INR per year). Being affordable is the only good about this college everything else is just manageable. Professors are not very helpful; they rarely give any information or notes on any topic. The admission process too is a mess many students get confused. Classrooms are big and not so bad not so good they are just OK. Overall I would say if you are left with no other options only then you should consider this college otherwise there are many other colleges you can go for.

The course I pursued in Bokaro Steel City College was B.Sc Physics Honors. For the eligibility you are required to have obtained at least 45 marks in physics in your 12 boards. This course is not easy I would say. Only go for Physics if you love it otherwise you will be left regretting your decision. Syllabus of physics is very vast and you have to complete it in 6 months that is per semester. You will have to give it at least 4 hours of your day to even score 8 CGPA. Do not expect any type of help from professors all of the studies you will have to do yourself.

There were two physics professors one of those provided notes, assignments, taught us about some experiments and also showed practical based on certain topics. In three years we had 20 to 25 classes which is just not enough at all. Every professor were well educated even though they were never in mood of sharing their knowledge with students. According to those few classes we had I would say that their style of teaching was not even close to those teachers on YouTube or even our High school teachers.

What can I say about Placements even the internships that we were offered were paid and were nowhere close to out subject. I don't think there is any placement for physics honors students.

Infrastructure of Bokaro Steel City College is just fine there is everything that is supposed to be in a college. It has big enough area under the campus, a small but useful library; drinking water is available in every building. The college is fairly old and the Building is not well managed and toilets are just disgusting.

There is not much crowd in the campus on normal days but while admissions are going on the campus is fairly crowded since there are too many students. Fests, Spots tournaments and many other activities are hosted all around the year. Don't know about any clubs since I was not that active in any extracurricular activities.
