A Comprehensive Review on St John's Medical College

Overall Rating
St John's is one of the most reputed medical colleges in India. It is consistently ranked high nationally and is a premier institute. My reason for choosing St John's was its great clinical exposure at the hospital and its ranking. The faculty here is supportive and is helpful if you are a struggling student.
 

Academics Rating
The entry in MBBS at St John's is solely through NEET examination. There is no NRI quota. There is reservation for Catholics. 10 seats are available for Karnataka catholic, 10 for all India open and 20 for nuns. The cutoff was around the region of 490 in the year I enrolled which was 2022.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty is supportive. Every 15 students are assigned a mentor for each subject. They can be approached at any time for academic and personal help. There are small group learning sessions and self directed learning along with case based learning sessions
 

Hostel Rating
Single room for boys and double rooms for girls are available in the hostel. The fee including mess comes to around 114000 per year. The rooms are clean and well maintained.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The campus is beautiful and is blended with nature. The main academic block houses 5 lecture halls along with a number of small classes and demo rooms. It also has practical labs for each subject and a dissection hall for anatomy. The central library houses all the books you could ever want. There are also canteens inside the campus.
 

Campus Rating
The campus life at St John's is quite nice with the annual fest ‘Autumn Muse’ being one of the biggest fests in South India. There are also numerous clubs like literary, theatre, impact, ecology, etc. Sports arena is also very active with hockey, basketball, football, tennis, throw ball, volleyball, cricket, table tennis and badminton having well maintained courts
