BITS School of Management MBA Review By Anushka Tripathi

Currently I am second-year residential MBA student at BITSoM, a B-School popular for its new-age agendas, diverse cohort and holistic profile-based selection. One of the core reasons I chose this over other premier colleges like TISS and IMT Ghaziabad was their student-centric approach and they take it very seriously. It’s made sure that if you have something to say, you'll be heard and I believe that's amazing. Moreover, the college follows a flat-hierarchy system which so far has only been half-achieved by IIMC. For a college in its infancy, BITSoM is giving neck-to-neck competition to Schools that have been existing for decades. Be it in placements or case competitions, BITSoM isn't failing to leave a mark.

In a period of two years a student is supposed to complete a total of 36 blocks (Carrying 2.5 credit each) known as "Core courses" and 11 WaW courses in those 36 blocks (carrying 1 credit each). Each block is 2-week long, taught by a guest faculty from top B-Schools like NYU Stern, Wharton, Kellogg’s School of Business, Texas University, etc. to name a few. The curriculum is hectic for sure but it helps in overall development of an individual. Every block has a number of deliverables that requires agility and presence of mind.

Most of the professors are experts in their domain with at least a decade of experience. Almost all the subjects are taught by top-faculty of other premier B-Schools like Kellogg’s, NYU Stern, USC Marshall, Wharton, ISB, SP Jain, IIM-A, IIM-K and the list can go on and on. They're always ready to address queries and take feedbacks.

Yes, we do have an IPCS team. The placements at BITSoM aren't student driven and there is a dedicated admin-team responsible to fetch you job suitable for the cohort's profiles. MBBs, Big4, ADL, Kearney, Morgan Stanley, JPMC, etc. all are visiting the campus in every cycle for front-end roles. Every cycle almost 50+ companies participate in the placements to place roughly 150 students.

Yes, there is a co-ed hostel at BITSoM. They're AC hostels with single-occupancy and a personal toilet. Have 7-7 housekeeping, plumber, and pest-control services available. It has 2 male and 2 female guards at the hostel reception 24*7. The college hostels are safe and clean without any unnecessary restrictions. The warden and other hostel-staff admin are very prompt in addressing all the issues if we face any.

The college has been designed well and has top-notch modern architecture with 60% of the campus dedicated to greenery. Campus is zero-emission, sustainable with 100% recycled water. We have an academic block, CoE building, dining hall and 2 hostels that are functioning. 4-5 hostels, another dining hall, another academic block are under construction planned to be functioning by FY25. 10+ Retail stores and a huge cricket field will be ready by Oct, 2024.

The college has multiple committees and clubs. There are multiple events hosted by different clubs throughout the year to keep college life fun. There is also a designated case comp coordinator from students under Student-life head (admin) who is responsible to ensure awareness and active participation in case comps. College hosts a lot of intra college events and is slowly venturing into inter-college events like TedX, case comps, coming inter-BITS, etc. with time.
