If you want to learn life lessons along with engineering than DCE can certainly help you with that. It helped me for sure because there was much to do beyond engineering at DCE. DCE is far ahead of its peers in Gurgaon like SGT University, KIIT College of Engineering etc. DCE was disciplined because no entry without I-Cards. Even the attendance was compulsory and the foremost thing of any college, faculty too was impressive. Our college’s HOD was very friendly with student and treated everyone at the campus the same. The reason why DCE has been accredited a B grade by NAAC is its education system. GCE doesn’t follow in paid principal or else it would have been an A grade NAAC college. I don’t know the difference between A and B but GCE had everything that other so-called colleges and universities had. As a student I explored various area of my interest as engineering was more of parent’s pressure thing because I wanted to become an actor. I later did an acting course but my engineering life has helped me cope up with many things over there. Firstly, when you have a good education background, you will never fear from falling. I always knew that I have a decent enough job waiting for me even if I am unable to further my acting career.

The course was same as other universities in India as I had friends who went to Pune and Bangalore for studies. The course of GCE and theirs was quite similar. The only difference that GCE had from those colleges was that our course didn’t just help us grow academically but improve on our personality as well. No faculty would talk to students in Hindi as we were always told that one fine day we will be taking our country global. So, one has to be well versed in English. So, all that added into our personality and after spending four years at GCE, one thing that I can say is that I don’t know where my academics will take me but as a person, I will definitely win hearts.

One piece of advice from one of our faculty that will always stay with me is that winning the world may be tough but winning hearts isn’t. The faculty were a right fit for this saying as they won all the hearts at the college. They treated everyone the same and the students who scored less were always given extra care. The faculty never imposed themselves and rather became our friends. Lionizing was not their thing so they kept students grounded by giving them advices on how to improve further.

100% placement for sure is a myth. Whoever says that their college provides 100% placement is only a gimmick. I have known people from IITs and even they said that IITs doesn’t guarantee 100% placements so forget GCE. If you have prepared well and scored well in all semesters before the placements, you need not worry as a handsome job will be in your hand. IBM, Infosys, Accenture, and HCL among many others have helped CSE student getting placed straight from GCE campus. The pool for placements is large but still not large enough to place all the students. I didn’t try as my ambition was to go on and try my hands at acting.

Hostel of GCE were millennial at an affordable rate. There were boys and girl’s hostels inside the campus as many students from various other states have always seen GCE as a college to long for. For such students, GCE has taken care by building one of the best hostels that had all the facilities that students never long for home or suffer from homesickness. Even the food prepared is under surprise supervision of college authorities so even that part is been handled well. I was from Gurgaon so we got to hear about the hostels from our friends who used to stay at the hostels.

The campus was good enough as 10 acres is kind because the college just has 6 engineering branches. The college building was having nearly 40 classrooms. All the classrooms were spacious and were equipped with audio visual projector facilities. A decent sized auditorium with push back seats and air-conditioning made us ask the professors to have presentations at the auditorium every time. Apart from the huge canteen the campus also had a CCD outlet that served us hot and cold coffees. Sporting facilities were missing as other than that there was nothing that DCE campus missed.

The college had photography, dance, acting, and various other clubs that were active. From Republic Day to Independence Day, to all the festivals, everything was celebrated at the campus. Many known personalities too were invited as DCE is one of the most sought after engineering colleges in Gurgaon. I tried my best to think of an area where my campus life took a beating but I could find none.
