Swami Shraddhanand College B.Sc Review By Anuj Bhardwaj

It is an out of campus co-ed college of Delhi University and is present on the outskirts of Delhi. There are a number of buses to reach the college from the GTK bypass but the facility of Delhi Metro is still not there. I studied there for 3 years i.e. 2011-2014 for my graduation. At that time admission was based on a merit list released by the university. Being an out of campus college you could get admission here with average marks in good courses as compared to North and south campus colleges of the university. The college has a large playground, a decent-sized library, and a qualified teaching staff.

My course was B.Sc Life Sciences. I scored 62.4% marks in 12th Standard. And got admission in the 2nd cutoff of the course. My first preference was botany Hons. but one of my teachers suggested this course. I saw the syllabus and was quite impressed with the subjects offered. Biology has always been my all-time favorite subject and in life sciences, all the major subjects were related to different branches of biology and chemistry. I really liked the course and am happy that I chose this over the Hons. course. The course did not help me to get the job but during my post graduation, the education and training I received here were really helpful.

Three departments - chemistry, botany, and zoology were covering our course. 25-30 teachers covered our course. Most of them were quite experienced in the field of teaching. They taught us well. They were punctual, rarely missed classes and were very interactive with students. The senior faculty were PhD holders and very fluent in their respective subjects. They appreciate the students who perform well in classes and helped everyone who sought their guidance even after the class. Two of my favorites are Mr. Mukesh Kumar (Zoology dept) and Dr Vibha Kaushik (Botany dept.). I must say I enjoyed studying more in this college than in my schools.

No campus placement was there and there was no placement cell either.

No hostel facility was there for students or teachers.

The campus size is quite large with a huge playground. The building was new when I was student there. Basic amenities like clean washrooms and water coolers were present on every floor. The classrooms were spacious. There were no air conditioners in the classrooms but the auditorium was air-conditioned. In my last year projectors were installed in many classrooms. Many seminars were organized related to our subjects. Compared to canteens of many north campus colleges, canteen and its food were below average here. Also, you could not find any decent food joints nearby. Labs were equipped with all the chemicals, apparatus and equipment required for our course. I really liked the library and its management. All the books recommended for our course were there in enough quantity.

There was a cultural society. They organize auditions for different categories and after clearing you could join the society. After joining you can participate in many activities like singing, dancing and theatre in different events organized by the society. There were events like books fairs, college fests, sports day, and annual day. Student union elections were a big event there. In my opinion, it was a great campus life there.
