Starex University BBA Review By Dipesh Kumar

I did my BBA from Starex University which is in Gurugram just for the namesake as it is quite far from the city. I joined Starex as I heard a lot of good things about the institute and also because BBA required a good infrastructure and exposure to flourish. I will be straight with my answer as Starex had no placements but were no short in providing us exposure and getting a belief in us to excel in our studies. Starex did most things right and when one does that thing do fell in place. Secondly the infrastructure is such that you will immediately fall in love with this place. A lot of my friends went to GD Goenka, Amity University Gurgaon, and other top universities of Gurgaon or nearby places but I alone came to Starex. I therefore had a peer comparison in a lot of things like the quality of education and the course content and on all front, Starex nose was ahead.

Like most private universities, the attendance was not compulsory here but the campus was so addictive that rather than sitting at home why not come to the air-conditioned classrooms. The classrooms were so cool that one can’t keep up with the world than coming to the classes. It was tough for me the first year as BBA has a lot of subjects that we don’t have in commerce during our HSC years. Also, I wasn’t that intelligent to adapt so easily. The college professors and management were of great help as we were allowed to ask the same things over and again and they had no problems in taking the same classes twice or thrice.

This is one aspect where Starex might be far from its peers as the faculties in Starex weren’t that experienced nor were as academically brilliant as the other universities have. However, as they say academically best person can’t be academically the best leader of the pack. The gist here is that our faculty members were chilled out and one can ask them any damn thing as many times they want and they will be there for us. Most faculties demean students is what I have seen in my school but here the faculty would rather take the joke on themselves. So, for me coming across such a nice set of faculties was unbelievable.

We were provided internship and that was it as BBA students didn’t even stood a chance to sit for placements. Some other courses placements were done and we were assured that we will be called but unfortunately it never happened or should I say we never got a call. Felt bad at times but it was a kick to go for further studies otherwise what we have studied in BBA would be a waste. The university provided us extra classes for competitive exams and the colleges that we should target. So, placements were zero but guidance for career and further studies was over 100%.

There are two boys and two girl’s hostels at the campus. The first-year students have to live in the hostel that has dormitories and from next year they are transferred to the hostel that has double and triple sharing rooms. I was not a part of the hostel but this piece of information was given to me by my friends when I studied there so that is all that I can help you all with.

The campus is a farm as there are around some 20+ buildings and most part of the campus is covered with farms. The main building of the campus was like a palace of the price and it was sad that I went there just during the admissions as that building is not meant for students. All the buildings of the campus have solar panels installed at the top and in the beautiful auditorium of the campus, we were shown a lot of demos and lectures were conducted on the benefits of using solar panels. The university cafeteria was the place where I have made my most memorable memories at the campus. The campus is completely Wi-Fi and makes no mistake as the range of Wi-Fi is such that you can be at any corner of the 70 acre huge campus and you will still be in the range of Wi-Fi.

Since, the university was far, not many of us stayed back at the university to have some fun. I used the transport facility of the university and the buses were ready in 15 minutes after our last lecture. Playing sports was the best time that I had at the campus as there were many sporting facilities at the campus. I was in the university football team that came runners-up in the inter-college football series. There were fests and events but I was never a part of any such program as I enjoyed them more watching from the stands.
