At SKIT, shut the shop and go home as soon as the College was over. Students of SKIT should get a purple heart for bravery because the students not maintaining attendance of 75% is considered a glaring error. The faculty would enjoy being in full swing with us on the day, but there was a saturated limitation that we could only have fun with them on certain days. So, on most days, we can't fathom what they did because they were so off the mark and students are given leniency in attendance. It was like giving them more freedom than they deserve. So, I can't fathom those rules; otherwise, the Institute was better, and, in fact, next to the JECRC University in Jaipur. MNIT is a different league, so not comparing that with private educational institutes. Data analytics superseded studies here as whatever new came through was added onto the already prolonged syllabus. In terms of placements, few colleges in Jaipur have been able to invite companies like Cognizant, Infosys, and TCS to its campus, but SKIT has managed to do so.

Academics never derailed here as our syllabus, even though vast, was completed well in advance. The education system here was the most looking part of the campus. In our year, brand new books were introduced by RTU, and SKIT also has the knack of adding things on its own, which never comes in exam, but we still have to study that. If, in short, I have to describe the academics in gist, I would say that academics at SKIT are far from being called shabby and their biggest strong point.

The faculties used to bring 10% over par from each student. To make them pat one's back was impossible. Some of the faculties were firecrackers, while some believed in anchoring; and at least this way, the balance was fine. The faculty for me were Ferraris, as most of them rushed through with the syllabus. Already the classes were long enough, but keeping us waiting every other day was something they loved doing. Having said that, all of them were scholars who would have played smart during their day, but all students are not that smart. I wish they knew that difference and went a little softer on the students. So to sum up, using three adjectives for them, most of the faculties were dependable, sturdy and stylish in the way they approached the studies.

I wish I was not obliged to answer this question because the placement was almost 70%, and I was in the remaining 30% who failed to get placements through campus. Placements are the spirit of any Institute, and SKIT's spirit is always high because of the kind of placements that happen at their campus. Placements were indeed like a go-go thing at SKIT, but those who didn't get any placements might have a different story. My story was miserable, but the real picture is that most students here get placed, and only a few unfortunate ones miss out. The impetus gets bogged down if the placements are not 100% but the students who pass all their semesters even with less CGPA should get placements from campus, is what I feel.

Both boys and girls hostels are inside the campus. The boys' hostel, named 'Nirwana Boys Hostel', was a huge block, and 500 students were accommodated in that. All the rooms of the boy's hostel were allotted to a single person and that too, at a nominal fee. I wish I were a part of that hostel which was strict but had a flashy instinct about it. The students I interacted with from the hostels never had any disarray, and all said that the facilities and food provided were fantastic.

The College is big enough as there are as many as four departmental buildings to go by with two hostel buildings. Out of the four blocks, our block was the 'Vikram Sarabhai Block' and right next to our block was the admin block named 'The Dhanvantri Block'. Our block had the College's amphitheater, and the admin block had the library. The College's auditorium is one of the biggest that one will see as it has a seating capacity of 1000 people. All the main events of the College have happened at the 'Gyanmandir Auditorium' of the College. Apart from that, there were a few more auditoriums that were used for departmental programs. The sporting facilities were world-class as I saw Tennis Clay Court for the first time in my life. There was a hard court too, but a clay court I had only seen on TV before I saw it at the SKIT campus. The campus cafeteria served almost everything from beverages to fast food, making it one of the hottest places on the campus.

If academics put SKIT in the driver's seat, campus life put them in the backseat. Hostellers might have a different story to tell, but as a day scholar, I didn't have much time to have fun on the campus. Yes, events were held regularly, but the mounting pressure of studies never allowed me to have a shot at the events or fests.
