Symbiosis Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Vikas Gupta

Symbiosis Institute of Technology is a niche name in engineering Colleges. The group is one of the best education pedigrees in the country. SIT is affiliated to SIU (Symbiosis International University) and is located in a small village near Pune called Lavale. SIT deserves all the accolades that are awarded to it, because every year, some or the other awards are awarded to SIT for their proper functioning. Many students dropped out as they didn't have the best of seasons at the College, but that was more of the dreadful studies that one has to do at SIT. There's no backwards at SIT because it started well and did have some issues during the middle phase, but it was in full swing during the end. I feel it's tough to continue the momentum throughout the whole year, but at SIT, the momentum never took a beating. Since its Symbiosis, events of the College can't be ignored.

The only part that killed me at times was that we paid so heavily, and the course that we had was similar to all the weaker Universities. Weaker in the sense who doesn't possess as big a name as SIT. Four semesters with so many subjects and classes, as long as MBA students was how the academics at SIT happened. It is tough to score here because you don't get marks for free here. Everything about a student is observed and filling long answers doesn't help here. Academics didn't kill it, but if education gives the best placements, then who cares whether it was the best or not.

I knew one thing that I am in a different city and different so I won't mess around. So, don't mess with your professors at all because they helped a lot during the bad times and their help was something that I could never imagine. They enhanced our logical ability because CSE students lagged in this part, and once the concept of logical abilities is clear, the course is done and dusted. Faculties pulled out all the rabbits out of their hat to ensure that students who have come this far must develop the much-required skills.

When the mandatory internship was assigned, I already had a letter from Cognizant and they trained me at their Pune office. I was hired within two months and finished my studies and got placed with them. For the ones who didn't have any previous offers, also had no issues in finding a job because the placements were 100%. Symbiosis has very good terms with a lot of companies who accepted the Institute students.

There were four boys hostels at the campus as one of which was reserved fully for M. Tech students. It was block C and the silence of all the hostel blocks because M. Tech students hardly organized any parties or jamming sessions at the hostels. The Block B hostel seemed like the naughtiest of them all as we could hear their noises even at 4 am because their parties never stopped. The rooms were great and the best part was the view. The College is located close to the hills and so we had to open our windows and the fresh air would sneak in. The mess was available at all the hostels and veg and non-veg food items; were served.

SIT campus is small as it's a stand-alone Institute of the campus. The knowledge park SIU campus was close to our campus, but our campus wasn't that big. There was a football ground at the campus, but even if one kicked with the wrong foot, the ball would fly off the campus. The library was quite small and even the reading space couldn't accommodate over 200 students. There was a healthcare facility at the campus as there's no good dispensary or hospital close to the campus; the Institute has arranged one of the best health care facilities in the entire village at our campus. There was a juice bar, a CCD outlet which is there in almost all the Symbi campuses, and a Symbi food court which was quite reasonable. Indoor sporting facilities also included a squash court and for the first time in my life, I played squash at SIT.

When I entered the campus, I was dazzled by its beauty. The College is on a hilltop and our sessions started in late July, which is a rainy month. I said to myself that I have entered the best possible campus on the earth because it looked so beautiful. I started my journey by making many new friends. However, in one month, I got loaded with numerous assignments to complete and CCD remained the only place to go and grab a cup of coffee to get some energy to finish those assignments. M. Tech students hardly play a role in College events as B. Tech students led the best life at the SIT campus.
