Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied Sciences for Women B.Sc Review By Sukriti Shrivastava

I'm a second year student of SRCASW, Delhi University. It’s an off campus college but has decent NIRF ranking. I aspired to be a DU student and therefore I landed into this college. The course I am pursuing is B.Sc (Hons) Instrumentation. Although the course lacks awareness, it’s a course which would see exponential scope in the coming years. The faculty of my college is phenomenal in their fields. The syllabus is for sure industry related but getting a well paying placement from this college is extremely rare. In most cases students go for higher studies or get placed at moderately low packages. If your aim is teaching or academia, you must opt for this college and course as well.

In order to get admission here, one must qualify the CUET UG examination. The cut offs are updated every year depending upon the difficulty level of the paper and candidate's performances. This course is not widely known so competition and cut offs are generally lower in this field. My sole motive towards enrolling in this program was my interest in the hardware sector that is electronics, instrumentation and others. I see rising scope in these sectors as software sector is getting more and more saturated.

Most professors of our college and specially my program hold a Ph.D degree and our experts of their assigned fields. Some have left great companies and high end packages to pursue their passion of teaching and it shows up in their teaching style. Regular sessions and workshops with industry professionals are held for the students to get better insights of the discipline. All in the entire faculty is great and is definitely worth it.

Having said all the amazing things about this college, I must tell you the harsh reality of the placement scenario. Most students don't even try for placements and prepare for higher studies if their aim is academia. The students who get placed are at quite low packages. Even getting a proper internship from this college is a tough nut to crack.

The hostel fees ranges till around 1 lakh for a year and the hostel service is mostly provided to first years. If seats are vacant only then are seniors allowed to take the hostel so first years are kept at the preference level. Mess food is definitely great considering the other options like PGs. Gym services, recreation room for watching TV or playing caroms, laundry room, Wi-Fi services and everything is provided to the residents. I am not sure about that residential facilities part. The hostel timing ranges from 6:30pm or 7:00 pm at night.

The campus area is moderate since it’s an off campus college and not the main DU campus which is on the other hand enormously huge, SRCASW is spread across in like 9.5 acres roughly. The campus has most amenities like library, gym and much more. There is a separate block for both academic or admin fields. The college also has an amphitheater, auditorium, lush green gardens and canteen. Overall the campus covers almost everything.

DU is widely known for its campus life and fest culture. This hype is totally worth it. As a DU student you are mostly eligible to visit the fests of other du colleges where you get to see amazing crowd and meet new people. The clubs are actively involved the events and they make every event extremely memorable. There is always some or the other programs and extracurricular activities getting conducted in the college so you never get the feel of having a monotonous college life here.
