Exploring the Unique Experience of Student Life at SBSEC: A Blend of Cultures and Societies

The feeling of being in DU is exceptional. The diversity in crowd adds brownie points too. The different cultures, societies, experiences and what not. I chose this college because of its prestige and reputation. I preferred being self-dependent during my college life so that I can be more mature and responsible made me choose Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College even more. It allows learning many new things as this college is utterly not only about academics but also about getting new skills as a person.

DU's curriculum is not that easy. There are many credits for each subject. For these credits, you have to complete theory examination, viva, assignments, and practical papers. Leaving cultural societies that you are involved in can be an option but there will be some related to your department and core subjects. These societies work on motives for which they require your skills and so they also give you work according to your applied department in which you are interested to learn new things. Even then, academics are quite concerned about and hold an importance for passing as there is criteria for attendance too for which students can even are detained.

The faculty is really very good and supportive. They are understanding for your personal problems and are always ready to help if you are genuinely willing to seek knowledge. The style of teaching is also not very theoretical, as they like to incorporate real life examples too, making the concepts understandable in a better way. I would say yes the faculties are somewhat strict too but only when it is needed.

The placement in my course is not very rewarding to be honest. It is an average. Median package lays around 4 to 5 LPA. However, there is mass recruitment by the companies like Deloitte, etc. In my opinion, one should often try to do a professional course side by side to utilize the time in the better way and to seek better rewards for future.

About hostels, I have to say that many colleges of DU do not have a hostel. Only a few colleges have hostels. There is an option of PG and flats near that specific college, which you can choose as your different requirements. For Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College too, there is no hostel but the nearby localities are filled with flats and PGs. so there is no such problem of accommodation.

Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Evening) of DU offers decent infrastructure for students seeking affordable education. The classrooms are spacious, with basic teaching aids, and the library has a good collection of academic resources. Sports facilities, a functional canteen, and seminar halls cater to extracurricular needs are available, though these amenities are basic and need better maintenance. The college’s location in South Delhi ensures good connectivity, but Wi-Fi and parking facilities are limited. While the infrastructure is satisfactory for essential academic and cultural activities, it lacks modernization and advanced amenities seen in other DU colleges. Hope, the college authorities could bring more advancements in the future.

Coming to the campus life, it has no restrictions for any individual for joining any society, attending any seminar and on any personal choices, which are related to your personality development. The diversity is very good. From North to South, East to West, whole country's crowd can be seen which is why it is a Central University. You get to learn a lot about different cultures, festivals, languages, and rituals. In addition, there are huge variety of options for an individual according to their interests in the form of different clubs and societies whether departmental or cultural. Additionally, there are many functions and programs conducted frequently maintaining an activeness in the campus and creating new skills in the students as everything is organized by the students only just in the guidance of the respective teachers. Lastly and mainly, there are a lot of academic fests at the end of an annual year according to the different departmental societies and even many cultural fests, which are conducted by the cultural societies by the college.
