Maharashtra Law University Nagpur CLAT Admission Guide

Currently, I am in my II year at Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. So far, my experience has been good. The first thing that drew me to this university was its high potential among tier-3 NLUs and it is growing rapidly. The second reason was that it's infrastructure as it has a huge and modern campus. The third reason was its location. NLU Nagpur offers BA LLB, BBA LLB, and BA LLB (Adjudication and Justicing). The third program is unique, no other university in the entire country offers that, and it is specially designed for the students who are aspiring for judiciary.

I have chosen BBA LLB (Hons.) and it's more focused towards corporate and a mixture of Management and Law. The eligibility criterion is that students have to give Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). For the general category candidate, rank of between 1200-2500 is good for taking admission. The admission is done through CLAT counseling process. One semester is of six months and there is pretty well gap between the mid- sem and end-sem exams. The exam pattern is really good because the questions are application based so it helps student in understanding how to apply the Law in practical life.

The fee of first year was Rs. 3,65,000. The whole course amounts to almost 18 Lakh. The fee structure is as follows tuition fee is Rs. 1,65,000, student welfare fee Rs. 3,000, library fee is Rs. 18,000, moot court fee is Rs. 6,000, recreation facility is Rs. 6,000 internet charges is Rs. 6,000, examination and evaluation fee is Rs. 8,000. It also includes accommodation charges. Maharashtra State government provides different scholarships to EWS, OBC ,SC and ST students. The central government also provides scholarships to such students. The university also has a merit and need basis scholarship scheme known as Shri Ram Jethmalani Scholarship.

The faculty members are amazing and highly qualified. The method of teaching is also really good and most of them have done their graduation and PhD from top universities of the country. The best part is that faculty members are really helpful and they are always available for everything. They teach us from mainly PPTs and Group discussion. My personal experience with faculty members so far is excellent and they are very approachable.

NLU, Nagpur has a placement cell but as of now, there not great numbers of placements.

The on campus hostels are amazing. They offer various recreation facilities such as gym, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, football and a TV room. However, two hostels are outside and student faces lot of issues regarding bus problem. The mess is quiet hygienic and provides breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The hostel fee is of around Rs. 45,000 per annum. Every student has to reside in hostel only.

The campus has academic block, amenity block, and administrative block. It’s situated outside the city and near to IIIT Nagpur. The classrooms have the capacity of 70 students. There are two seminar halls and two conference halls. The Library is very decent and there is facility of reading room. The canteen is situated near Lake (artificial lake) and the food taste is really good. The campus has a medical room and football ground. The security is really strict at on campus hostel. The city bus facility is there for students.

The campus life is amazing. The crowd is from diverse backgrounds. There are various clubs and committee both academically such as Academic Committee, Library Committee, Sports Committee, Quiz, debate and literary Committee and extra-curricular such as Book club, music club and dance club. I am the member of library committee. The Cultural Committee of the university organizes various events and there are two important fests of the university i.e., Lawkriti and Sankrostav.
