SMSMC Jaipur: Fees, Admission, and Academics

SMS Medical College is an apex institute for medical studies in Rajasthan and it is one of the best medical colleges. I personally suggest doing MBBS from a medical college, which provides overall development of a medical student in the medical field. Our medical college fulfills all the conditions of being the best wholesome medical college at a very precise level as it has very highly experienced senior professors to teach the students not theoretical but also make students practically expert in the medical field. Along with academics, it also organizes many sports activities throughout the year. College staff also holds mentorship program to support each student personally. Therefore, I think everyone who wants to become good doctor in future should choose this institution for his or her medical studies.

I have a dream to become a doctor. To become a doctor everyone has to do graduation via MBBS course, which is of 4.5 year plus 1-year internship. To get admission in any medical college for doing MBBS we have to crack NEET UG examination with a good AIR. If we score upto cutoff marks for a particular medical college then we can get admission in the same. To get this college, we have to get AIR 2000-3000 in general category. In each year, students have to pass 2 internals and 1 PUC and at the end of year, main RUHS University examinations are held. It has very highly qualified top faculties to teach students. They demonstrate everything practically along with theoretical part by which we are able to handle patients quite well during our clinical postings.

For 1st year of MBBS, fee structure varies according to category. For OBC, ST, & SC category, registration fee and admission fee is Rs. 52,300 while for general category tuition fee of Rs. 67,000 and they have to pay with admission fee and registration fee. For rest of the years i.e., 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year, for each semester, students have to pay Rs. 12,250 for OBC, ST, & SC category and general category has to pay Rs. 45,750.

Subjects are taught by senior professors and associate professors, which are highly expert in their subjects. They have MBBS, MD, & DM degrees from renounced institutes of medical science. They teach the subjects via PPTs on projector. PPT content is always taken from standard books of MBBS curriculum. Along with this all, the theoretical knowledge is demonstrated practically in the associated Labs and dissection halls. Teachers explain all the concepts in a very simplified way. Mentorship programs are also available, in which a group of students (3 to 4) are allotted to a senior faculty and students can share their personal problems with academic problems related to particular subjects. Teachers are very friendly with students.

There is no placement cell at any medical college including SMS. Students have to crack RUHS medical officer examination to become a medical officer after completing MBBS or students have another option to do MD courses after cracking NEET PG examination.

College provides hostel facility separate for boys and girls. Hostels are kept quite clean by hostel management. Hostel has 2 messes, which provides breakfast, lunch and dinner with a very good quality of food. Hostels also have their separate library in itself. All the students leave in hostel friendly and freely. Hostel rules are not so much strict. Hostel also have playground outside the hostels. However, girls and boys have common playground. Hostel fee for single seated room is Rs. 23,950, For double seater room is Rs.20,450, and for triple seated room is Rs. 17,750 have to pay.

College has a large academic block, which is quite neat and well decorated. Academic block has 3 floors. Ground floor has lecture theatres for MBBS classes, which have capacity of 250 students. First floor has conference hall with lecture theatres. Second floor has very large Auditorium with physiology, biochemistry labs, and forensic museum with Demonstration rooms. Along with this academic block, there is also a canteen, which is large, and has sufficient items to eat. College campus also have sports playground like for Cricket, Volleyball, Football, and Gym. Campus also has Microbiology Pharmacology, and Pathology labs. There is a wide dissection hall is also present which have cadavers to teach students about the Anatomy of human body on dead body. College also provides facility of swimming pool to students. I personally like to visit to go in labs and learn the theoretical knowledge in practical way. College’s infrastructure is quite well for overall development of a medical student.

Overall campus life is very good that is the reason that it is top institute for medical studies in Rajasthan. College has strength of 250×4 = 1000 Medical students with teaching staff and other management team. Annual fest of our college is SRIJAN, which is celebrated every year organized by Student Union of SMS. It also has JARD (Jaipur Association of Resident Doctors). College has a very big hospital, which has highest OPD load in the world. SMS hospital has different branches of it as a separate hospital buildings.
