NIT Rourkela's Fee Structure and Financial Aid Options

I passed out from NIT Rourkela last year. From experience of 4 years, I can assure that it does will be a great choice for students. First of all it has a very beautiful campus and infrastructure and the largest NIT among all NITS covering 12000 acres. You will get everything, whatever you need in your academic life. Every kind of sports, clubs, festivals are available here. Apart from that the hostel is also very good and the mess food is awesome. If you are entering this institute, you are going to live your most memorable 4 years here.

I took Electrical Engineering in my B.Tech. As it is a circuital branch and has a vast syllabus, your knowledge and thought process is definitely going to an upper level. It is not easy to score good marks and get a good CGPA in this particular branch. Hence you will be more focused in classes and will give enough time for question practice. This kind of hard work will definitely reflect in your interviews as because you are more experienced in problem solving skills. In this course you have 8 semesters in 4 years and 1 semester includes 2 exams like mid sem and end sem. The eligibility criteria for getting this institute for B.Tech are the score in JEE MAINS. According to your percentile in JEE MAINS you can apply for this institute.

In NIT Rourkela the fees is little higher than other NIT’s. For the course you are taking, you have to pay Rs. 62,500 per semester as course fees. A hostel and mess fee is Rs. 35,000 per semester. Including others fees like sports, clubs, medical, library the total fees per semester is around Rs. 1,12000. You can get a loan for the institute fees very easily from any bank. For the students having annual family income less than one lakh, there will be no course fees for them.

All faculties are highly knowledge and experienced. Almost every faculty has done Ph.D in a specific subject from NIT or IIT and from other foreign universities also. They are very skilled in problem solving. Faculties use smart board and projectors in class; they prepare their PPT and also share that PPT with students. If you have any doubts in that subject, you can directly contact the faculty of can meet him in his / her office. All the faculties are very encouraging and helpful.

The placement records of NIT Rourkela are very good. The placement cell is very active and informs all the necessary things for placement. For better placements you can start some internship or participate in many tech programs in the campus. All known big companies visit NIT Rourkela for placement every year. In NIT Rourkela highest package was nearly 1 Cr last year and average was around 12 lakh per annum. I got a package of 22 lakh in our campus placement.

In the NIT Rourkela campus there are more 10 hostels for students. Hostels have all the facilities you need. In your room you will get a LAN port from where you can access 24 hours unlimited free internet. You can also find gym, night canteen, sports accessories, etc. in the hotel. Mess menu is also very good for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. I just loved the mess food. Hostel and mess fees are Rs. 35,000 per semester.

NIT Rourkela has a very large campus of 12,000 acres. By getting this institute, you can enjoy the beauty of the steel city Rourkela. Every classroom has digital boards and projectors with central AC and 2 big coolers. NIT Rourkela contains the biggest library among all NIT and IIT, named as Biju Patnaik library. In the library you will get free Wi-Fi, AC, and any kind of book you need. Inside the campus you can find more than 5 big grounds especially for cricket, hockey and football. There are 3 good restaurants in the campus. There is a hospital also where you can get free treatment.

Throughout my journey of 4 years, I enjoyed a lot. There were many festivals, clubs, parties where I created lovely memories with my friends. I played some sports like badminton, volleyball, cricket and carrom. I joined some clubs and also organised some club events. The tech fest of NIT Rourkela is named as INOVISION where we participate in many programs and do lots of fun. Some of the students participated in hackathon and performed very well. My overall experience in this institute was excellent. These 4 years was very joyful for me and this journey gave a lot of knowledge, skill and experience.
