Life at HIHT Shimla

Overall Rating
The experience at HIHT Shimla was very nice. All faculties are very good having good knowledge and experience of their respective subjects. All classrooms are equipped with projectors for PPT presentations. Placements offered by the Institute are top notch. They provide hostel facilities also for outstation students. Only thing which was lacking was unavailability of a playground in the campus and the food provided in the hostel mess also needed improvement.
 

Academics Rating
The admission process is quite simple. You can enroll for degree course after completing the 12th class examination with a minimum percentage of 60%. The exams are conducted twice in every semester. All students are placed in good five star luxury properties before the final exams in the final semester. They will send students for industrial training exposure in the starting of the final semester so that students can have an idea about hotel industry standards and they can wisely choose their area of interest.
The total fees for degree courses were around 3,00,000 which you can pay in installments also. If you pay all fees at once you will get a discount of 10 to 15k.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculties were very nice and helpful. They encouraged the students and helped them in clearing certain doubts regarding the hotel industry standards. All were experienced hoteliers in respective departments which they were teaching us and personality development sessions were also arranged by them for students for interview preparations. Teachers were always ahead for solving the problems of the students whether it is the issues in the hostel of either issue regarding the study materials.
 

Placement Rating
Placements are the best part. Every student is placed in top brands like Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Taj, etc.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel facility was good accommodation wise. The rooms are nice and clean. The food quality was not as good as expected according to me.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Infrastructure of the Institute was very good. There was a library and IT room where students can research on internet about upcoming opportunities in hotels like management training programs or interview opportunities in various hotels. All classrooms were equipped with projectors for PPT presentations and classrooms were very spacious but there were no playing ground in campus. We can play only some indoor games like carom, chess and table tennis, etc.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life was overall quite nice. Students can enjoy their time in the campus with different activities going on like group discussions and personality development sessions and cooking classes which were my favorite part in the campus. The annual day and fresher parties were organized every year and students were encouraged for participation in different cultural activities like folk dance, folk singing, and any other specific talent to showcase in front of everyone.
