Medicaps University BBA Review By Kamal Singh

I was a part of various committees here and therefore have seen a lot more of the university, its functionality, and how the management takes decisions. Placements are average but barring that the university has done everything alright to make sure those students who study here gets the best environment. The effectiveness of Medi Caps University Indore would have gone higher if the placements were alright but I am sure the university will sort them out soon. The college turned university is now two decades old and has earned a niche for itself as students from various parts of India have started coming to the university as Indore is one of the quaint towns and education here needs no introduction. Many private and government universities like the Sage University Indore, PIMR, Indore Institute of Science & Technology, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya among many others have taken Indore’s name to pan India. It became autonomous while I was studying and therefore one can see the progress that the university has made.

Well, luckily, I was involved in various other things and therefore my attendance short too was ignored but otherwise it’s strict more than the schools. 75% attendance is compulsory means one has to have that attendance. Also, if you remain absent for four or five consecutive days, you will have to go to HOD and get an application signed from them otherwise you won’t be allowed to attend the classes. BBA is not that vast course but still students have no choice but to attend worthless guest lectures. The workshops arranged were fantastic as they were the best means of learning and we were also taken on industrial tours every month. So, if the strictness part becomes a little liberating, then BBA which is one of the strong holds of the university will attract more students.

Faculties at the university were quite open-minded but they had to follow the orders from the management and therefore they took strict actions. However, please never piss them off because otherwise you are losing some marks for sure in the internals. Also, now since it’s a deemed university who knows they might do the same to you in finals as well. Almost every faculty here had work experience and BBA is just the beginning of management studies so they were of the fact that if we want to grow MBA is must. I think they were aware that placements won’t be happening so that’s the best way to motivate students. So, be in anything, I have never seen better orators or motivational speakers better than them.

Well, placements here were quite subjective. The loudest mouth that one will see here is that of Training & Placement cell. The officer assigned there had no control while he used to shout and has insulted many students in a very indiscreet manner. Well, he did so as he demanded much more but students didn’t realized that only the degree won’t get us jobs but soft skills are essential. I wish I realized it then because finally had to go through all of that while doing PGDM. In short, the placements were quite slim as not even the 20% of the class students had any placements.

It was more of a farmland when I joined but by the time I left, it became a corporate park as in 2014 there were just two boy’s hostels and one girl’s hostel but come 2017 and there were plenty of hostels both for boys and girls. The college made its preparations of getting a deemed university tag by getting the perfect infrastructure in place. Hostels were damn good and even though I was a day scholar I envied the students who were staying at the newly constructed hostels.

A farm land converted into a corporate park looks so dashing that even if the attendance weren’t compulsory, I would have taken my back to the college daily. There was one cafeteria and that too was filthy in 2014 but come 2017 there are multiple food joints and all well maintained. The building in which I studied for the first two years was demolished when we were in the final year and had to study in an under constructed building. I mean the classrooms and the labs were ready but construction was still on and now when I look at that building all I say to myself is where was I when the infrastructure of the university changed from hell to hell of a ride. The area is still less in comparison to some of the private universities but facilities were amazing.

One thing that hasn’t changed here is the campus life. The clubs, committees are still operational and were active then and are active till now. The annual day which was called then is now celebrated as an annual fest of three days called Moonstone. The name has remained the same but the size and the budget of the fest has increase multi-fold.
