NHCE offers a unique specialization in Machine design and that was one of the reasons why I chose this college. From designing computers to cars, we were taught everything in this course and that’s what makes NHCE Bangalore special. Honestly speaking, GATE score didn’t mattered here because they ask for the GATE score was just a formality as half the crowd was full of students who haven’t even appeared for it. Thus, it wasn’t the top colleges of Bangalore as CMRIT, Nitte Meenakshi, JSS, and others are better than NHCE but it was more because of the course that I couldn’t resist but to join NHCE. Well, there’s hardly anything that will worry at the campus as the placements were great. Well, I was among those who were victim of the fines that the college charges. For not wearing I-Card, I was fined 3-4 times. Having said that the high fees offer a satisfactory education and placements so at one point I even forgot about the fines that I have paid here. Since, I have to be honest, I have mentioned about it but if only have to talk about the academics, then it was soothing.
Well, this portion hardly needs a special mention as the course was well-designed and the professor that were hired for the course were also one of the smartest brains that I have seen. The first year was a pressure cooker thing because we were taught way too much as the college has a theory that students should know what they are good at and don’t chose the second-best option for themselves. Well, it’s easy to say but when it comes to actually doing it, it takes a hell lot and trust me I couldn’t even go home during the mid-semester breaks as the schedule of final semester was out and I just died wondering how I am going to manage this much of work load.
Well, from core faculties to lab attendees, everyone was efficient here. From faculty’s side, we were provided enough freedom during the labs and labs attendees were in pursuit who have us total control. I know I am talking more about lab attendees but that’s because I spent more time there and it were they who supervised our progress. The main faculties were also magnificent but on days, their strictness took more soil of out us and that is why I was even scared to pass through them after the classes.
From IT, to Motors, almost all palate of companies were there for placements. As per the specializations we did, the companies were assigned accordingly. Auto companies were in focus as major Auto makers like Maruti, Tata Motors, and Ashok Leyland among others have been curious to know our progress. So, our interviews too were done in labs and we were also called on their workshops to draw the physics of machine making. The best part about NHCE placements is that even after you pass out, you will still be assisted for placements through the campus.
Both boys and girls hostels are inside the campus and since there are a lot of North Indian students residing at the hostels, NHCE hostel allots the room accordingly. Even the food that we had used to have North Indian cuisine every day in the meal. Both veg and non-veg food were served in the mess. The hostel was clean as a whistle and had the access to many of the campus facilities for as long as wanted. Over 1000 students resides at the hostel and therefore it looks like a colony of young kids trying to figure out their future. It was heartening to see the kind of atmosphere that NHCE hostels had.
There are a total of 6 blocks in the campus and the 12 acres NHCE campus is a student’s delight as there are a few canteens and some food trucks available to have ample choices when it comes to food. The classrooms had projectors and the only thing missing was ACs as Bangalore hardly have winters and ACs are there in most of the private colleges these days but not NHCE. Seminars were like an often thing here and therefore a well facilitated auditorium was there. There were many sporting facilities like a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a huge playground.
Well, there’s no casteism or South North thing at the campus. Students were from all parts of India have formed the crowd at NHCE as students from western states like Maharashtra, and Gujarat too were there in numbers, and from Eastern states like Assam, Bengal, and Orissa were there. NHCE used to host an inter-college competition called Sargam where almost all the colleges of Bangalore were invited and that was the biggest fest celebrated at the campus.

I joined New Horizon College of Engineering this year and since then my life has been exciting and stressful. The college has a huge campus which attracted me the most. Another reason I joined NHCE was that it is an autonomous college. At times the academics can get really stressful and attendance here is taken very strictly. When I joined the college, we had an induction program going on, which lasted for a week and helped us learn about many things. Such events and programs are held often in t... Read Full Review

After a poor run in my undergraduate course, I had to search for the options of the college that gives admission in M. Tech without GATE. There were quite a few, actually, and from all of those NHCE was the best. I would consider myself lucky as I studied in the NHCE CS department because the other departments were not as good as most Bangalore colleges. Coming from the North, a college in the South was much different and, importantly better. One has to be serious, but you can't walk away with a... Read Full Review
NHCE is just a name and nothing else. The whopping money that they take for BE is not worth it as they charge for every damn thing. Even for fests the students are allocated a very minimum budget and students had to do it on their own to make it interesting. Just like fests even the placement cell takes fees to train and still only few are placed. I have been a victim of their greed and would request all to take all my points seriously. VTU is one of the best universities but NHCE is certainly o... Read Full Review
