One must have heard about the quote that beggars can never be choosers and that is what happened with me as I failed to get admissions elsewhere and the newly established university Jagran Lake University was where I decided to take admissions. 53% in 12th is what I got and still they were more than happy to take me as they took 90,000 extra from me in the name of donations. My parents didn’t mind that as they were like, I am off to one of the most stunning universities. If you don’t mind though, the university is stunning as one can check all the universities of Bhopal and no one can even be compared on how big and beautiful JLU Bhopal is. Also mind you that they have two campuses and both of them are stunning. So, the academics and the faculties are the two biggest flaws and was glad that attendance issue was upheld and that is why I have not many reasons to complain.
Well academics lag big time as I had no idea what the hell was going on. Coming from commerce 12th, you don’t even have idea of the subjects that are being taught in BBA. This even if was my problem but what about the other chaos that the university did. The lectures were never on time and plus the faculty just coming and reading the book is how we are supposed to learn then I am sorry I do have my reservations with such style of teaching. If anyone asks doubt from the previous class, the faculty would be like, were you sleeping yesterday. Mind you every single conversation that happened at the campus was in Bhopali Hindi. So, nor the skill set or the mindset, the academics of JLU hasn’t helped with any of them.
You just had to be relative of someone from the top management and you can teach here. It was as simple as that as one of the lady professors was a recent passed out from IPER and was hired for the job. Now the course that we had was different from theirs and she therefore gave us notes of IPER and what came in exams was from our books. In the name of practicals, the faculties made us play fish pond and various other games as they believed that stress of the studies can be taken over this way. I wonder if this is how they approach teaching then even after experience can they produce some students who will go places.
If one wants to learn how lame reasons are given then trust me JLU is one place. The onus is on university to get their students placed but at JLU, it was on students. They managed to get 3-4 companies and when they interviewed us, they figured out that these people are good for nothing and I don’t know how university claimed that 50% students were placed when 50% students didn’t even stood a chance to appear for the interview. Well, luckily our pact with friends drools over as most of us went for higher studies and have gotten over the horrendous time at JLU.
So, the grey area is now gone and the rub of the green has started. JLU hostels were nothing short of being called world class. I saw them as while taking admissions when I went to the university, I didn’t inform them that I was a local guy and hence they showed me the hostel and what rooms, what mess, what facilities. I was in awe of it right from the word go and even pulled my parents’ leg that please make some arrangements so that I could stay at the hostels. That couldn’t happen though but once again, I will admit that hostels were world class.
It’s not that the university has just taken care of the hostels. They have taken care of everything that is built at JLU campus. One has to look at the main building and the library. I can bet my life if anyone says that there’s a better library than that even at IIMs. The food joints, maybe lesser than some of the universities as I have heard that universities in Punjab do have an entire food mall but we had 5-6 outlets and that was enough to cover all the dishes that I ever craved for.
I can sum that up for the first two years as in final year I haven’t even attended the college for 30 days. If one needs to have fun then the seeds that were sown during our time as the clubs were getting ready and students were trying to figure out how to keep the club culture alive. So, in our time they were led by amateurs but I know they have turned as a red-hot property of the university now. So, one can have a great campus life but about academics, I am still not sure.
Unfortunately, I did engineering from JLU Bhopal and little did I know that JLU is best for mass media, journalism and Law. Their school of law has done exceptionally well in such a little time. The engineering campus is more of an isolated one as the university is operating from two campuses. I joined the college in 2014 and it was renamed a year before and therefore a lot of construction was going on for the first two years after I joined. The JLU School of Engineering was located at the Chand... Read Full Review
JLU is a thing that has the best of reputations but in reality is nothing but a common place like others. The university glitters better than gold but as they say all that glitters is not gold. There are no eligibility criteria for JLU admission to any of its courses as one can take the admissions at will. I was not even sure which course to choose as after commerce the choice anyways is few. The counselor at the university urged me to take BBA as he said three sections are already full and one ... JLU on paper looked like should have been on course to become one of the top universities in Bhopal but that hasn’t happened and there are reasons for it. Jagran Lakecity University Bhopal has fell short on academics and placements because rest other things they have taken care of very well. Be it hostel facilities for outsiders or even the entire infrastructure of the campus. They are managing two campuses and both of them are class apart. Not a single faculty was good and we were worried abo... Read Full Review
JLU Bhopal was more like because I didn’t have a choice I took admissions here. JLU was the only university that offered admissions to students who even had just the passing marks. I thought had 55% in HSC and therefore I missed out on top colleges like IPER Bhopal, and Innovative Commerce College which were my first-choice colleges. Anyways talking about JLU things weren’t as smooth as it looked it will sail. I had a tough time there academically because nothing special to learn there and m... Read Full Review
Well, on paper one will find no better university than Jagran Lakecity University at least in Bhopal. However, in reality the things are opposite. Well, there are opposite because the beauty of face might fade away but brain will never. The brains behind building this university have put all that they had in building the face of it but nothing in terms of providing a better education for which the students today need steep motivation. Well since I am writing to talk about my experience, I will h... Read Full Review
