MPSTME Mumbai has its own entrance so for those who have failed to get admissions in any of the colleges that you get through JEE Score or Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test, then MPSTME is not a bad option either. However, it isn’t that great too because the college is hardly known. I still remember saying to autowalas that I need to go to this college and they would not understand. Among many other buildings, this 8-floor college also looks one of those. So, one has to say Cooper Hospital to reach here. The crowd though is amazing as there maybe some consequences with many of the things but when it comes to crowd there are no flaws. I came all the way from Anand to study here and likewise from every city of Gujarat, you will find students coming to study here. Despite the fact that, the hostel is strict and one has to by with almost all the laws but still the upbringing at NMIMS Mukesh Patel was amazing and have no complaints even through my aspiration of placements were shattered badly here.

The centre of excellence at the college made sure that in the tiny labs and whatever resources the college has, we had the best possible course. So realistically, the priority of the college was education and they have done well with it by making 75% attendance compulsory. Unlike other colleges of Mumbai University where the exams go on for over 20 days, our college used to wrap it up in a week’s time. Also, since the college used to set the papers and checking was also done at the college, our results were out soon too. So, in all there were less pigeonholes as far the academics are concerned.

Necessarily it looks like PhD holder’s faculties have become mandatory in all colleges. It was same here too but I had strong views over it. I think perhaps in my situation, I need the faculties who can teach well more than their degrees this is what it matters. When you such star-studded faculties around, no is the answer for most doubts that you have. Regardless of whether you have understood or not, you have to nod your head that you are fine with the topic and let’s move on. I faced similar issues because understanding engineering topics and especially about machines was never easy give most of the things that we were studying were absolutely new for us.

Mechanical placements are going downhill and it started while we passed out. Not many engineering units or auto companies or the industries where a mechanical student can contribute came for placements. I was surprised when the T&P cell asked us to present our case with the IT companies. Some students did and also got the job as the company have their own set of training and students were ok as they felt job is more important than going in a core college. They might be ok with it but I did mechanical engineering because I loved doing it and wanted to work in the core company. Therefore, I just chucked the placements and decided to go for further studies.

Well, the boys’ hostel was inside the campus as an 8 floor building identical to the main building was the boys hostel. The college also has arranged some private hostel outside the college both for boys and girls but I was lucky to get the hostel inside the campus. The fees was high as we had to pay separately for mess. In a way, it was good as we were not confined to rely on mess for food. The food though was good but because we used to have plans every now and then, I avoided the mess and ate food at various excellent restaurants of Juhu.

Well, just two buildings are what the campus looks like as one is the academic block and the other one is boys hostel. So those serene engineering colleges where we have lawns, tennis courts, workstations and all was not available here. Look I honestly feel that engineering students need facilities to unwind and at MPSTME, there were just two recreational rooms and potentially were good too but they used to get closed by 7.30 pm. So, infrastructure was not full value to the money as the classes and labs were air-conditioned but the college should learn lesson on infrastructure as this is now how an engineering college should look like.

The worst of the review is all gone as campus life was amazingly good. The crowd was one of the best, the location of the college was one of the best in Mumbai. Mithibai College was just 800m from the college and Juhu beach was at a walking distance from the college. NMIMS University’s highlights are their events and trust me the strong looking event roster looked even stronger once the students started performing at the events.
