GGMSC Jammu A Historical Campus with Modern Amenities

Back in 2017, when I passed in 12th with science subjects, like everyone else, I also dreamt of pursuing IIT or NEET. I joined the race but my race didn't reach the finish line. That's when the quote from 3 idiots came to my mind, "if you don't run fast, someone will step over you and move ahead". Then I decided to choose the best option in my state. I took admission in B.Sc at Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College in Jammu. It is one of the oldest campus, established in 1905. The campus has excellent infrastructure, a green environment and very supportive faculty. You won't regret joining G.G.M Science college Jammu.

I decided that I won't take a gap year anymore and that I must secure admission. There are two ways to get admission one is through the CUET exam and the other is through direct admission means Non- CUET. Only state's students are eligible for direct admission. The course structure is aligned with the market, and we can say it is a well designed course with a lot of practical learning.

In the first year the fees is on a yearly basis and from the second year onwards the fees are semester wise. I have no idea if student scholarships are available.

Most of the teachers are Ph.D holders and Gold medalist. The teaching methods include white board teaching in some classes and ppt. in others. Problem solving are average, but teachers-student bonding is good. Some teachers are not serious about their classes although some teachers only come for formality, while others are top notch. Some teachers encourage critical thinking and problem solving in depth, while others do not engage much in this aspect.

The college does not have any placement companies. It mainly offers subjects in B.Sc such as botany, zoology, chemistry, physics and other related subjects.

There is a hostel, but I didn't join it, so I have no idea about it.

G.G.M science college located in J&K which is one of the largest and greenest campuses in the region. It boasts over 30 academic blocks, with more than 10 well equipped laboratories to support practical learning. The college's classrooms have a seating capacity of 100 students, making it suitable for large groups. The campus offers ample resources for students, including three libraries stocked with academic materials, four new halls for various activities, one seminar hall, and one auditorium for events and conferences. Additionally, students can enjoy two canteens, a football ground, and a Volleyball ground for recreation and sports.

Overall my experience with campus life has been quite enjoyable. I have had the chance to meet new people since I joined college, and I have become aware that there are about 5-6 different committees within the institutions that play important roles in organizing various activities and events. Although I haven't been part of any committee yet, I've learned a lot from those who are involved. Looking back I'm certain that I will never regret my time spent in college, as it has been a wonderful and memorable journey so far.
