My overall review about doing D.El.Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education) from Rajshree Institute of Management and Technology would be an affordable, comfortable, convenient, and positive one. The institute offers this Diploma in teaching from its Rajshree Teachers Training Institute branch, which is one among its diverse options in education. The Institute is ranked among the top Engineering Colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Rajshree Institute of Management and Technology is borne from Rajshree Educational Trust, which is headquartered in Bareilly (UP). The admission process was easy; college was appointed based on Highschool, Intermediate, and Graduation percentages. Once I fulfilled the criteria of the grade for admission to Rajshree, I had to fill up a form giving my personal and educational information. The interview was set up with the Head of the Department and the questions being asked were not subject-oriented but rather person-oriented.
The institute offers a wide variety of courses in various fields like management, engineering, infrastructure development, agriculture, social development, medical, teaching, and real estate. I did D.El.Ed, which is a training course offered by Rajshree Teachers Training Institute. The course is about training an individual to become a teacher for Government Primary Schools, the time I became a student for this Teaching Diploma I became a pupil teacher. The eligibility for joining this course is 10+2 and Graduation in any subject, from a recognized school & college. Though there was no entrance exam the grades of 10+2 and Graduation mattered for getting through the eligibility of getting admission to the university. This two-year course is divided into four semesters, with a month of training in schools as a pupil teacher in each semester. I joined this course because I aspire to become a Teacher and realized my love for children during my training and how desperately I want to contribute to the development and growth of education for children.
The faculty of my department was the best; they were intellectuals, veterans, and friendly. I know this might seem like a con for being a faculty but at the age when I was doing this diploma, my teachers needed to be more friendly and supportive instead of strict. They helped students anytime and never hesitated to give their advice or suggestion for any unexpected situation. The regular presentations of teaching in the classroom never made students nervous or doubtful, because of the supportive faculties. Faculty at Rajshree Teachers Training Institute also organized different events to pull the students out of their mundane college life. Sports events, Scout-guide training, Cooking competitions, and a miscellaneous class for entertainment every Saturday. Other than that students were allowed to sit and research in Library for the assignments assigned by the faculty, for vivas, and study in a spare hour.
My course doesn’t offer any placement because it depends on competitive exams after completing the diploma and offers a government teaching job if qualified for those exams. But Pupil teachers can still land jobs at private teaching schools or colleges after completing D.El.Ed. The course I studied was based on teaching us about child development, accepting diversity in education, pedagogy, and social behavior. So, we were trained for children, in particular, our last month’s training was done in a Junior school which has students from standard 6th to 8th, but the other three months were trained in primary school teaching children from standard 1st to 5th. Despite no scope for placement in my course, the institute has a placement cell for students from management, engineering, and other technical departments. Students from RIMT have been placed at Capgemini Technology, HCL Technology, TCS, Byju’s, Microsoft, etc.
RIMT provides separate hostel facility for both boys and girls. Hostel buildings are at the end of the college campus by the canteen, hostels at RIMT can accommodate a large number of students. There are ID cards provided to the hosteler, without which their entry is restricted. If a student wants to have a friend or relative overnight, they have to get special permission from the administration. Each hostel has a warden, who manages the hostel’s whereabouts. The mess is large and clean, even as a day student I had those meals and they give the home feeling, which I think can be a boon for the students staying at hostels. Getting a hostel facility adds a new fee to the former course fee. Students often go to their homes on festivals and other holidays, but for those who don’t, a special small celebration is organized for them in the hostel building.
Rajshree Institute of Management and Technology has vast infrastructure. It is divided into several buildings my department of Teachers Training is separate from the main building. There is also a separate workshop room, and a huge indoor badminton court, which also has a separate space for exercises. The institute has a canteen at the back of the main building, which can seat more than 100 students at once. The reception area of RIMT is the most wonderful of all; it has a high round ceiling, office, reception area, counseling cells, and a wide waiting area. The institution also has one big ground at the very entrance of it and three other grounds in other parts. A basketball court, a volleyball court, a vast parking space inside and outside the institution, and a huge path walk from the entrance to the buildings, and several plants with seasonal flowers are planted in a part of that path walk.
The campus life at RIMT is great, the student must carry their identity cards with them and they can go to different departments at any hour of college time. In winter, students often sit on the ground under the sun while reading or completing their assignments in their spare hours. Water coolers provide fresh and cold water in summer to beat the heat. Annual events are organized every year, which is named “Aavahan”, in which celebrities are invited and TV actors and Singers have marked their presence at Aavahan over the years, other than that occasional sports events, tournaments, Olympiads, and cultural programs are organized. With a lot of learning and providing better education, campus life does not completely eradicate the fun. RIMT aims to provide a campus life that has the right ratio of learning and fun.
