VIT-AP University Hostel Accommodation and Amenities

VIT-AP University is a university located in Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh. It is a branch of main campus that is in Vellore. It was established in 1990's. This university provides quality education, well-educated teachers, fully equipped laboratories, spacious indoor sports ground, and two grounds for outdoor games like cricket & football. My choice of this university was obvious because I felt I could get exposure from all over India. This institute offers what all other institutes offer, nothing more but whatever it offers is good.

My course is an integrated B.Tech plus M.Tech in Software Engineering. I opted this course so that I can complete both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree at the same time along with one year of internship experience from a recognized company as part of the course curriculum. The entry requirement for this degree is getting above 60% marks in PCM in 12th grade and filling the application form of this course. Admission process is fair, university does not encourage any malpractices. After getting shortlisted, you have to participate in the counseling where you are to select the courses and university in order you wish to do. Then you will be provided with any of our choice in a short time gap. Exams are conducted very frequently. There is an exam every month. There will be quizzes and assignments to complete. Every subject includes a real life case study which makes is easier to understand the subject.

There will be categories in fee structures (per year). fee in category 1 is Rs. 96,000, Category 2 is Rs. 1,51,000 and category 3 is Rs. 1,96,000. Mine is category 2. There will be some caution money deposit and admission fee, which is total of Rs.10,000 to 12,000. No special discounts are provided. The university does not provide any scholarship.

Most of the faculty teaching here has graduated from either IIT’s or NIT’s. Teachers are well mannered with students. The method of teaching varies from person to person but most teachers like to teach by presenting power point presentation and teach from them. They use board when necessary. All teachers help in solving the problems present to them by the students. In a class, there are up to 75 students and not over boarding but the teacher has an eye on everyone. They are easily approachable in their cabins. Most of them are friendly.

A placement cell trains students for campus placements. Many companies pick students and the placement rate is good in the university. Soft skills course is added from the first semester itself so that students can get trained in aptitude since the start. Average package for CSE is 14 to 15 LPA and highest is 1 CPA.

I am a hostler. I chose 4-bed AC room in hostel. The hostels are very clean. Any problem will be solved immediately once a complaint is raised. There are different types of room in hostels, ranging from double bed sharing to 16-bed dormitory in AC and non-AC categories. Hostel fee depends on type you choose. The food in mess is good. There are 5 to 6 messes in the university all do not provide same quality or taste but my hostel mess serves great food. By 8.30 PM in the night, hostel doors will be closed and no one is allowed to roam outside. The hostels are separate for boys and girls.

Currently, the university is in developing stage so everywhere a lot of construction is happening. Though the campus area is 200 acres and very less area is constructed. The university has 2-academic blocks, 1 central block, 1 food street, and 1 rock plaza to chill out during free time. All amenities like library, GYM, etc. are in these buildings at present. There are plans on constructing them separately in future. The classrooms are big but non-AC, it will be very difficult during summer season to sit and listen. The labs are air-conditioned. University provides transportation on weekends to go outing and return as well.

My overall campus life is good. I love it when I meet new people from various places in the university. The academic progress is also good. University accommodates 17,000 per day attending different classes, labs, working on personal projects, enjoying life. Some are stressing about future. VIT-AP University has approximately 70 clubs and chapters, where you can choose any of them in which you find your interest. University conducts 2 fests per year, one technical and one non-technical. In addition, other extracurricular activities take places per every month on occasion of different festivals. The fests have some entry fee but it is your choice to attend. My experience till now is great and hopes it will be great in future.
