SSIT Taliparamba: Academics, Fee Structure, & Others

Overall Rating
My overall experience at SSIT Taliparamba has been a wonderful journey. Initially I had troubles adapting to this institute but later I was able to cope up. This institute is a self-financing institute and it provides many courses. I chose this institute in particular because in my area, there were only few institutes that provided this course (Biotechnology) and among them, this one had better reputation for this course. Faculties are highly qualified and experienced.
 

Academics Rating
I chose the course B.Sc Biotechnology, as I was interested in Science and Biology but did not want to for medical or engineering field. Through little searching, I came across this course and found this course fascinating and went ahead with the decision. The eligibility criterion requires for you to have a Science background. The admission process takes place through institute allotment and if you happen to not get allotted you can go for management seats. Model exams are conducted prior to the semester exam and test papers are frequently arranged as well.
The total fee, you have to pay each semester is Rs. 13000 or Rs. 26,000 per year (includes all charges). During admission, Rs. 21000 is to be paid for merit seats and Rs. 55,000 for management seats.
 

Faculty Rating
Our department is blessed with great teachers who are experienced and knowledgeable. Faculties are highly qualified. Most of them use black boards and group discussions are held as well Doubts are cleared immediately by the tutors. Faculties are very amiable and approachable. Mentors are always there with you and have your back all the time. There is no shortage of teachers or students in the institute and we maintain a good relationship with the faculties.
 

Hostel Rating
Institute does provide hostel facility for both gents and ladies. Hostels are well maintained and safe. Girl’s and boy’s hostels are separate. Girl’s hostel is located within the campus and boys outside the campus. I did not opt for hostel so not sure about the fee structure.
 

Infrastructure Rating
For a self-financing institute, the infrastructure and campus is compact and not up to the mark. Now new blocks are being constructed, classes are being added, and hopefully in the future campus will be more developed. Classrooms can occupy upto 40 to 50 students. It also has well maintained and spacious Library, labs, seminar halls, and auditorium are available. However, it does lack a proper & functional cafeteria, and sports activities are not much seen.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life was good and fun. Institute crowd is manageable. There are many varieties of clubs arranged like NSS, NCC, tourism & development club, student union, etc. and I am a part of NCC. Extracurricular activities like drawing, painting, sports etc. are encouraged. Fests and events are conducted in a grand way. Few of them are union day, institute day, ethnic day, fine arts day, food fest, etc.

    Sir Syed Institute For Technical Studies Taliparamba is a well known self financing institute affiliated to Kannur University. SSITS provides various courses especially in Management and Science stream. Almost 1500 students are studying in this institute.
