IIIT-Delhi: A Top Choice for STEM Enthusiasts

The overall experience of mine in Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology is great. The curriculum follows foreign methodology and facilities are good. the academics are taken very seriously here hence, for some students, the academic load can be high. The reasons that I chose this college was due to better placement ratio than other JAC colleges and I found infrastructure and other things appealing than others like DTU and NSUT. The uniqueness is about course structure and college mechanism, it is better than all the other ones and has a lavish campus as it is built in 2008.

The course with me is Computer Science & Applied Mathematics that is called CSAM in short. I did have interest in Mathematics along with passion in Computer Science and this college has fusion of both in a great way. The entry requirement is JEE Main Exam and according to percentile or score, you get your will be admitted in college. The admission takes place through JAC counseling. You require a decent score to get into this college frequency of exams is little more, there are weekly quizzes and test to keep you updated with course. As I said, it is following new curriculum this it is making students industry ready rather than cramming trash things.

The fee of the course is little high. The semester wise fee is approximately 2.5 Lakh and yearly fee is average of 5 Lakh. All the charges including GST are included in this. Discount or scholarship are provided in various ways like merit cum based and aid to girls students as well. We have to apply, then some sort of students are selected, and it ranges till 2 to 3 Lakh.

Faculty is very good in terms of teaching or availability. They are highly qualified and have taken education from premium institute like IITs or IIITs. They teach through ppts or handwritten notes varying from professor to professor. The problem solving abilities of them needs not to be questioned its insanely good. The teacher student ratio is approximately 300:1 but all have their office hours so they are approachable thus all the doubts get cleared. They are very friendly when it comes to asking help.

I am currently in 1st year so I have no idea about placements much but it is good as per the students.

I am not in hostel, but Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology does provide hostel and mess facilities. The fee is around Rs. 60,000 per year. There are no restriction regarding in & out timings.

There are around main 3 academic blocks names lecture hall complex, old academic building as well as research and developement block. The campus size is approximately 25 acres and located around Govindpuri area. The classrooms are superb according to infrastructure as well as aesthetics wise, 500 students can accommodate in LOC (lecture hall complex). Library and labs are well maintained. There is a 4-floored library where many books are available. It also has rooms for group study as well as quiet study. Canteen is economical and have variety of foods cooked with proper hygiene. The infrastructure or campus is worth roaming and enjoyable and it is my favorite part.

The overall campus life is good as discussed and enjoyable. The crowd is good as there are top students from India as well as other countries that are here for education purposes. There are different types of clubs in society covering every domain. Extracurricular activities are not taken for granted many sports debate and literature events take place in frequent times. The fests are ‘Odyssey’, which is the cultural fest, ‘Astra’, which is, sports fest and ‘Esya’ is technical fest all are pan India level and one of biggest in Delhi. The overall experience is very good and I think it's good decision to be here.
