Overall Rating
Campus life is overall good. I wrote JEE in 2023 and got onto IIITDM Chennai. My overall experience is good. I chose this particular institute as it was only institute that provides Smart Manufacturing course in Southern part of India. In addition, my parents wanted me to be in Southern part of India and in Chennai.
 

Academics Rating
Academics review is quite good. I chose SM as it includes all the core branch subjects like Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical, and Mechanical which made it more interesting. I was confused during my course registration what to choose but this course gave me wide options. Entry requirements include JEE Main score with a cutoff of above 96 percentile. Admission process includes submitting all the documents including 10th & 12th certificates, birth certificate, and JEE score card. IN case of exams, we have mid-sem, end-sem, and some quizzes.
Fee structure of IIITDM Chennai per semester is Rs. 1,12,140. It differs for each category. For SC/ST, it is Rs. 29,500. Management students pay approximately 4 Lakh rupees. Scholarships are provided according to parents’ income and JEE score. The fee includes all the charges such as admission, tuition, hostel mess, medical, sports, and lab.
 

Faculty Rating
Faculty here is overall fine. Some faculties are really good and amazing. They are very much approachable sweet and helpful. They are some who are very rude and I had one professor who used to kick out students out of class because they looked into the watch. Most of the faculty members come from IITs. Most of them use PPTs and black board and very few use the method of group discussion. Teacher to student ratio is 4:10. I have good bonding with 3 or 4 faculties here.
 

Placement Rating
There is a placement cell in this institute. It is very active. Average package is 12 LPA. Renowned companies, which come, are Ford, Ashoka Leyland, etc. Placement related seminars and other sessions are held to train us.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, IIITDM Chennai provides hostels for both girls and boys. There is 1 hostel for girls, 3 for girls, and 1 for faculty & family. There are 14 floors in each hostel with 20 rooms. Every room has cots, table chairs, and Ethernet connections. Boys’ hostel and girls’ hostel are separate. However, mess for both of them is same. Hostel fee is Rs. 33,500. Hostel’s in time is 12 PM. Mess food is only vegetarian and has to pay extra accordingly. Hygiene in the hostel can be improved. We are provided with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks in mess.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The academic block, laboratory complex, & library have good infrastructure. Campus size is nearly 60 acres. Classrooms can accommodate upto 300 students. There is an open-air theatre. Canteen here is very good. Night café is open till 2 AM at night. Sports complex are extremely good as there are utilities for the games like basketball, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, badminton, caroms, table tennis, tennis, & football. There is a gym and open gym, which are air-conditioned. The medical centre is average; it is open until 7 PM.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is good. Institute’s crowd is ok. There are both cultural and technical clubs here. Yes I am part of Cultural affairs, cultural dance club, and non-technical group. It supports all the co curricular activities but does not provide fund. We have Inter-institute ‘Meraki’ cultural fest, Intra-institute technical fest ‘Vashisht’, and cultural fest. Almost all the festivals are celebrated in our campus.

  • 'Ashwatha Hostel' at IIITDM Kanchipuram has Around 540 Rooms

    Overall my experience was good. I am currently in my 2nd year at IIITDM Kanchipuram. In this Institution is no ragging system. Most of the seniors are very friendly and they help you to crack exams easily by giving tips. Faculty is also very friendly. I personally like the gym and the good thing is that they are updating machinery of gym for students. College does have clear roads which is good for running as it is rush free.... Read Full Review

    It is a Private Autonomous Institute. Presently, I am in 3rd semester, I am still exploring the IIITDM Kancheepuram, but I say what I felt here. In the starting, I do not like the Institute, I think due to homesick. However, I opened up myself I experienced 1 year here, what I have to say, here will be good infrastructure, labs, friendly facilities, playground, supportive coordinators.
