About GCETTS Serampore: All the Aspects

Overall Rating
Till now, my overall experience at Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology has been great. The college is located in Serampore, which is 30 minutes away from Howrah Railway station via train. It is situated right beside the Ganges and the surroundings are really beautiful. My college life has been enjoyable.
 

Academics Rating
I am enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Apparel Production Management (APM) program which is a specialisation course of Textile Engineering. The college takes admission on the basis of WBJEE rank. The course duration is 4 years or 8 semesters in which 1 exam is held each semester. The exams are not difficult and easy to pass even if a student studies minimally. The course structure is quite industry specific which increases employment potential of the students. The course curriculums also includes mandatory internship or industry experience which helps students get attractive jobs offers right after they graduate.
The course fee is quite low for this college because it is state funded. The fees varies branch wise. The lowest fee is of Textile Technology (TT) branch which is Rs. 6,500 per year whereas the fee of APM is Rs. 8,500 per year. Students pursuing in-demand courses like CSE have to pay higher fees.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculties are the best part of this college as all the professors are highly qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. Most of them have published research papers in their names in various fields. Their teaching style is really good and engaging. The teacher student ratio is 1:10 and all the teachers are very collaborative. They always motivate & enlighten us about career goals and show us a path to acquire them.
 

Placement Rating
The placement of Government College of Engineering and Textile Technology is really good for TT and APM branch as 100% placements are achieved for these programs every year. The highest package at the college is 5.5 LPA and average is package is between 3 LPA to 3.5 LPA.
 

Hostel Rating
The college offers accommodation facilities but they are limited with few seats. Every year, only 8-10 students are allotted rooms in the hostels. The hostel facilities are standard which include a mess and a common room for games.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The infrastructure is quite average with old buildings. Some of the labs are renovated and maintained decently. There is a canteen which provides food at low cost. There is also a sports ground for Football and Cricket. There is an auditorium & a library with air conditioning and proper cleaning. The library has a god collection of relevant books.
 

Campus Rating
The college life is quite enjoyable because of the various activities and events that take place year-round. There are various clubs and societies for students based on their interests like coding, singing, dancing, acting, debating, photography, etc. Students from these clubs often participate in inter-college competitions and win rewards for themselves and the college. The students union also hosts various events and programs like our annual cultural fest ‘Texavision’, and annual sports fest ‘Ayaschya’. Festivals like Saraswati Puja, Holi, Diwali, etc. are also celebrated in the campus.

It is located in Hooghly district in West Bengal, which is situated around 40 minutes faraway from Howrah railway station. It is located beside the river Ganges, so the atmosphere is beautiful.     The teaching skill of staff in GCETTS Serampore is very nice. They help each student to upgrade his or her skill. This college is very nice and in this college sports cultural program debate competition and dance music all is going well and so many activities like tree plantations like program.
