XIM University's B.Com Admission Process

XIMU Bhubaneswar offers a great mix of academics and extracurricular activities. The curriculum is designed in a great manner, which gives you theoretical as well as practical knowledge. The maximum faculty is knowledgeable. The placement support for B.Com students is average and has lot of room for improvement. The infrastructure is well maintained and the library is one of the greatest parts of infrastructures in the university. It also has hostel facilities inside the campus. Pretty huge campus with Greenery everywhere.

I am pursuing B.Com with Finance as my major. Eligibility is totally based on a short interview process where the university will try to understand your aspirations and may ask you few academics questions. Admission is entirely online; you fill the form and get shortlisted for the interview. Talking about my course, you will be having total 6 semesters during the entire 3-year time period, where there will be 2 exams in each semester i.e. mid- semester examination and end term examination. Overall, the academic environment is very rewarding too, if you actively engage in learning and make use of the available resources.

The fee for this particular course is around Rs. 86,500 for 5 semesters and Rs. 92,500 for 1st semester where admission charges are also included along with the security deposit. Hostel fee is also separate. If you have above 85% to 90% in your 12th boards, you are eligible for their in-house scholarship program.

While some of the faculty members are highly knowledgeable and experienced others is average. Many faculties use modern technology such as projectors for bringing best of their respective subjects but still some professors prefer to teach using old school method. The teaching methods vary as some professor use interactive presentation, which makes their teaching more engaging while other relies on traditional lectures. The faculties are approachable and willing to help beyond the classroom. The student to teacher ratio might be 20:1 but I am not very sure. Overall the faculty is one of the strong points of the university.

Yes, there is an UG placement cell in our university known as UG-CAS (Career & Advisory Services). It helps academically bright students in securing internships and jobs. The placement opportunities at XIMU Bhubaneswar are below average (if you talk about my course), with just few companies visiting the campus for recruitment. Yet the placement cell provides career counseling sessions and resume building sessions.

Yes, university provides residential facilities with strict different hostels for both boys and girls. Each room is assigned to 2 students with 2 beds and 2 cupboards for respective student. Choosing roommate is flexible upto some extent. There is a clubroom in both the hostel for fun and recreational activities. The mess food has separate charges, with 3 times providing foods (breakfast, lunch, & dinner) and also maintains a strict proper hygiene. Outing for hosteler is available for 3 days a week and without time around 5 PM and in time around 7 PM. I am a day boarder though. One can also get a decent PG and stay outside of the hostel.

The university offers a well-maintained and modern infrastructure that supports both academics and extracurricular. With a huge campus the university's aesthetic is on point. The classroom is well equipped with speakers, AV aids, and projector. The classrooms are equipped with comfortable seating arrangement for each student. As I said earlier, library is one of the best parts of the university; it is highly modern that is properly air conditioned and well stocked with relevant books and newspapers. The campus has sports complex such as indoor badminton court, tennis court, basketball court, and football ground. The overall infrastructure is good. The students have to walk a lot in the campus.

Campus life is pretty much fun, if you have right friends circle (those who match your vibe). The crowd here is highly modern and varied as there are different students across the country come into this university. There are various clubs such as finance club, accounting club, drama, dance club, etc. The second thing after academics for which this university is famous for is organizing events in every short time period. There are at least 5 to 6 fests organized in our university. There is an annual sports competition here.
