BVCOE Pune' Robotics & Automation Program

The overall college experience is good. I chose this college on a recommendation of one of my family friends. A very old and reputed college but one should be careful while choosing branch if they decide to join here. I am from Robotics and Automation branch and though the name seems fancy, the overall academics need to improve drastically. It will take some time for people to be comfortable with specializations like these. The infrastructure can be better. The faculties are knowledgeable and helpful but not all.

I chose Robotics and Automation as my course for Bachelors in Technology degree. I chose this branch because of my interest and curiosity in evolving technology in robotics and fields like Artificial Intelligence. There was an admission test for this college, in which there were medium level questions of Physics, Chemistry, Math, and Aptitude. You have to give a list of 2 to 3 branches, according to your own priority. Then you will be allotted the branch, according to your preference, rank, and available seats. The admission process of this college is hassle free and easy. There are overall 8 semesters. This includes 2 internal unit tests, 1 practical exam, and one semester university examination. The practical activities should be increased, as for the better understanding of course. The questions are of medium level difficulty and usually application based. So, it surely gives us a heads-up for the real life challenges.

The fee was Rs. 1,75,000 for the first year and it is increased by a certain percentage every year. Apart from this, we were required to pay Rs. 4,800 every semester as exam fee which differs in different semesters.

The faculty of this college is knowledgeable and holds degree from prestigious colleges. Majority of the faculty members have years of experience in teaching. Their method of teaching is usually from PPTs. The problem solving abilities of most faculties of this college is good. The faculties are approachable in case of any problem but there are always exceptions everywhere. Overall, my experience with the faculty is good.

There is a training and placement cell in our college with equal participation from both students and teachers. They are usually approachable for any kind of problem and queries. They collect the information of students before placement season starts and are proactive throughout.

The main college building of Engineering is developed and equipped with facilities like seminar hall, library, CCTV's etc. However, there is a separate building for Mechanical and Robotics students because of the labs. That building needs an up gradation. The labs present there are helpful but need to be more equipped. The classrooms and seating capacity is good. Academic facilities like library, seminar halls, auditorium, and conference halls are in good condition and well maintained. The lifts are also working. The canteen services can be improved though. Overall, infrastructure is good for now but can be improved.

My overall campus life is good till now. The college crowd is mix of students from all over India and not just Maharashtra. There are several college clubs like RAESA, ITSA, and ETSA and several clubs for co-curricular activities like RAQS, Malang, RCPY, etc. So, the college provides a mix of both education and co-curricular activities. Several events are hosted from time-to-time. Yearly fest called ‘Bharatiyam’ is also organized in the month of February or March, which is usually a 5 day event. Apart, from these activities like hackathons and internship programs should be increased as to provide real benefit to the students.
