Swami Rama Himalayan University is Situated at Rishikesh-Dehradun Highway

Swami Rama Himalayan University is situated at Rishikesh-Dehradun highway. Overall, if you want a University, which is near to Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun that this one can be perfect choice. Besides that, if you want ample time to yourself for enhancing your skills and working on other stuffs then you are welcome to this Swami Rama Himalayan University Dehradun. Also, it is quite affordable & budget-friendly for the students.

I chose to pursue B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from this University. I got direct admission in this University because I secured 90% in my 10+2. The course structure is not that strict. Exams were not difficult here. As they were good at preparing us to the real world. Only 10% of students in our class got back in some subjects. I only studied for the subjects once at class and the next on the night before the exams. So yeah, it wasn't that hard. Therefore, if you want a good balance of academic and personal life then you should choose this University. Also not to mention that we weren't taught every other subject, which covers everything for all engineering branches, we were taught only important subjects.

I think my total fee was Rs. 7,00,000/-. The fee structure for the students who are native of Uttarakhand was rather low. I secured scholarship based on my score in Class 12th. Financial aid is also available at Swami Rama Himalayan University Dehradun.

The faculty, which taught us the course, was sometimes good. Anyway, the teachers in an average were good. They did their part of teaching us, covering the topics, and finishing their required course at a given time. Some of the teachers have industry experience. We were taught using both blackboards and PPTs. We had labs for practical session as well. Seminars and workshops are something you will find that happens consistently in this University. The teachers are easy to bond with. The student to teacher ratio in our University was about 5:1.

I am currently in my final year. The Placement Cell at our University is trying its best to find good opportunities for our batch, especially because they are optimistic for us. They have been preparing us with mock interviews, aptitude competitions and many more. We also have soft skills classes, vocational classes, an English class, which helps us, not only improves our communication skills, but also enhances our behavior and personality. The starting packages offered by the companies are decent. The University often organizes pool campus placement activities too.

The University offers residential facilities to the students. I stayed in hostel for about 2 months before I decided I wanted to stay outside. The hostel had many amenities like clean washroom, a bed, sharing rooms, AC rooms, cupboard, and a small balcony in each room. The boys’ and girls’ hostels are almost 500 metre apart from each other. The hostel fee for the non-MBBS students was Rs. 42,000/- per year. There were 2 messes, which you could choose from. In addition, some of the new hostels are under-construction. The mess food is of good quality. If I am being honest, the memories I made in hostel in those 2 months will always be precious to me. Not because of its proximity to the University though but because of the friends I had there.

The University is very vast area. It has a hospital, medical wing, management wing, and several academic blocks. There is a central library as well as branch & ATM of SBI Bank. The playgrounds are huge. The canteens serve food at a reasonable price and there are several canteens in the whole campus. If you get tired of walking in the campus then you have the facility of a bike too in the campus. The classrooms are spacious enough & comprise CCTV cameras & projectors. There are water coolers at every floor of each building. You can even avail bus facilities offered by the University.

Overall, the campus life in SRHU Dehradun is fun but it also depends on the bond you are going to create. The people with whom you will spend your time. There are clubs like IEEE, ACM, and many others in this University allowing you to expand your vision. Extracurricular activities like debates, storytelling, painting, and so on are conducted by the University. At least 2 fests are conducted every year. The festivals are also celebrated whole-heartedly here.
