Psychology Program at Dr. MGR-Janaki College: Academics, Fees, & More

My college life was best, thanks to the campus and faculty members of Dr. MGR-Janaki College for providing students, whatever we needed and guided us every place. The faculty members were friendly, supportive, and encouraging. College evaluates each student and understands the need of students. Provides counseling and guidance for every student. They make sure to help us learn better. One of factors that made me choose this college was the staff, who was very responsive and assisted both the students & parents. Environment of the college was friendly and a plastic free campus.

Psychology Department is the best. Everyone knows our department is unique and friendly, as for the academic excellence, we had 100% results. We have many workshops, webinar, and training programs to learn in a practical manner. There are 2 internal exams for every semester, conducted once in a month and 1 model exam before final semester exam. The college not only taught students academics but also how to tackle real life challenges.

B.Sc course fee is Rs. 50,000 per year including all the tuition fee, admission, and registration fee. Scholarships are provided for students based on several categories like for first generation learners. Students from foundations like ‘Agaram’ don't have to pay fee; the foundation pays for them and college accept ‘Agaram Foundation’ students.

The teaching method differs for each professor. Most of the teachers use group discussion, PPT, workshops, etc. to make students learn. Teachers sometimes conducted debates, which were interesting and helped students, understand the pros and cons better. Teachers gave us an opportunity to have discussion with our seniors and do research together. Every faculty member had been an excellent guide for the students. Faculty here was supportive and also provided counseling, whenever a student required. Overall, I was lucky to have such experienced faculty members in my course.

We have multiple placement training programs provided by the mentors from various organizations including certification course, which taught us about the interview skills, time management, communication skills, work life balance, and so on. For placements, various companies visit our campus such as HCL, Finance Company, ICICI bank, etc.

The college does not provide any hostel facilities.

There are 3 major blocks Science, Arts, and ‘Natiya’ block. Natiya Block is for classical dance. The most loved place in Dr. MGR-Janaki College was the library. We had access to take books from library; it had a good stock of books from different genre. 2 auditorium, a conference hall, and subject specific labs were present in the campus. The institute had 2 canteens. Overall, the college’s infrastructure was good but can be improved further.

I was impressed with the college vibe here. There are different clubs like Rotary, RRC, NCC, art & culture, and sports, which students can opt based on their different interests. Many festivals are celebrated here in the college campus, such as Holi, Pongal, Christmas, etc. The College organizes variety of events, ensuring that there is an option for every student to learn apart from academics. Honestly, I was not very fond of my college earlier, it seemed like they had really strict rules later got to know that this college was very nice, supportive, and friendly compared to other colleges. This was a place where we learned and enjoyed many things.
