Admissions Process of Dayanand Girls PG College, Kanpur

I have heard from many people that this college is best for B.Ed, but I did not believe it back then. When I joined, I realized that this college is the best. Teachers are supportive, classes are conducted properly and the way of teaching is impressive. The facilities and faculties, both are perfect. My overall experience in this college is good. I must say you would not regret after joining this college.

If you want to enroll in B.Ed course, you have to fill a form of entrance exam that is conducted on state level basis. If you are able to clear that exam then you will be eligible for counselling. You will have to choose college according to your interest, locality, and needs. Then allotment of colleges would occur. Colleges are allotted according to the ranks secured by students. After securing your seat, you have to pay college fee with counselling fees. B.Ed course is divided into 4 semesters, so each semester internal exams as well as final exams are conducted.

Fees is paid once in a year, with is approx Rs.10,000 and the total fee for the whole course is about Rs.50,000. A kit fee for 4 semesters is Rs. 20,000, examination fees Rs. 4,000 and other charges Rs.6,000. You can avail the benefits of UP Scholarship, by which your whole amount of college fee will be refunded. I too got a scholarship of Rs. 10,000 in first year and Rs. 15,000 in second year.

The faculties are very good. In my course, there are only women faculties. Every faculty is experienced and a PhD holder in their respective fields. Method of teaching is traditional, there is no digital classroom or PPT method. You just sit in the class, teachers teach through books and you just have to listen and make notes properly. Teachers are very approachable, they clear your doubts effectively. There is one faculty for 12 students, one mentor teacher is also given for each student. You can share your problems with them and they will help you out. My experience with teachers is good, they support me in every aspect.

The college also provides residential facilities named Dayanand Girl's Hostel. Total rooms there are 240 and no. of students that live here are 280. Mess food is also good and qualitative, providing breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. The monthly hostel fee including mess charges is Rs. 4900. Hostel rules are quite strict. If you want to go outside you have to sign on the register and timings for going outside are 6 Am to 6 Pm only. After that, you cannot go outside without permission.

The infrastructure of Dayanand Girls PG College, Kanpur is very attractive. Campus size is big according to me. Classrooms too, are in a good condition, seating capacity is approximately 50 students. Every department has a separate library where you can avail the benefits of issuing books. You can also sit there and study. There are 2 conference halls and an auditorium. There is a college canteen and a medical facility available too. There is no transport facility provided by the college. You have to use self-conveyance. My favorite part of the college is ‘Vatika’ (a garden) because it is filled with different types of flowers.

My campus life was fantastic. College is not much crowded. There is canteen where you can chill out for some time. Extracurricular activities like NCC, NSS and many are available in the college. Clubs like Dance, Drama, Arts, Painting, Games, etc. are also available. Annual fests occur in the month of December every year. Students participate in this fest, show their talents and win prizes. Sports like Volleyball and Football are available, various tournaments of the same also happen. Competitions and quizzes are also organised by various departments. Overall, my experience in Dayanand Girls PG College, Kanpur is quite good.
