Admission Procedure and Fees of NLUJAA Guwahati

National Law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJAA) is the only National Law school in the entire Northeast. Being an inhabitant of Assam, it is a hardship for students, keen in learning Law, to find an university comprising of rich resources. Getting an opportunity to study here feels like a privilege as the university provides an environment where students are given the confidence to express their views in autonomy. The university, unlike other universities encourages Law students to indulge in various programs by not limiting the academia to books but extending it to practical application of Law instead. This university is a perfect instance of conveying that in a remote state like Assam, studying Law can be encouraging. Overall, the campus itself is impeccable but got some constraints but we must know ‘Even the brightest diamond has its imperfection.’

My decision of choosing NLU Assam as my Law school will not be a decision to repent in regards of academia. The academics here range from dealing with various Law subjects to multiple humanities subjects. Beyond laying focus on the core subjects, the academics includes introduction of various new courses like Multi disciplinary course (MDC), relevant to the contemporary period like Intellectual Property Rights, Human Rights, Protection of Copyrights, etc. The exams are conducted here on problem-based material, thus allowing the students to apply their own approach in dealing with critical situation in later stage.

The fee structure at NLU Assam ranges around 2 Lakh per year. There are also privileges for meritorious students to secure a scholarship from the part of campus after meeting certain criteria. Also, scholarships based on reservations are also applicable.

The faculty here is reputed and has qualifications from top universities like NALSAR, St. Stephen's University, University of Delhi, etc. Also the faculty here inoculates deep interest in International Law, Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, etc. The faculty members have also clinched their name in various publications and also previously held reputed positions in different Law schools too. Some professors have an experience of being a member at the NAAC core committee, South Asian Society of Criminology and Victimology (SASCV) etc. The faculty members are very cooperative in helping students sort out any issue regarding any subject confusions.

The placement cell at NLU Assam has been maintaining an outstanding performance where students are getting placed at reputed firms. The recent batches have been placed at top firms like ZEUS Law Associates, Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas, Lakshmikumaran and Sridharan attorneys etc. Students here are actively securing their names in internships at reputed firms and also at various High Courts. The faculty members here are actively supportive in letting students achieve a successful placement.

We have excellent facilities at hostel. The rooms of both boys and girls hostel are extremely comfortable, maintaining decent hygiene. Students get the privilege of single rooms by third year where there is a study table, a separate wardrobe and a comfortable bed. There are also outstanding facilities like washing machines, daily room services, water coolers etc. Also, the curfew time of the hostel is at 12 AM for girls and campus curfew time is at 9 PM.

The university includes modern infrastructure with academic blocks and administrative blocks, library designed where abundant resourceful books are kept. The classrooms are designed with an air conditioning facility, including digital screens for efficient learning. The campus becomes more mesmerizing due to its location beside the banks of the Brahmaputra river and a small hill surrounded by greenery. The campus includes a cafe for small breaks and refreshments. The campus also got a sports complex where there are 2 badminton courts and Table tennis tables for students to enhance their sportsmanship talents.

Campus life at NLU Assam is worthy to live due to its active environment. The university indulges students to be a part of various committees, take part in various Literary Competitions and moot court competitions, enhancing students in their various skills and talents. Also, there are student driven bodies where elections are held for the elected representatives, who in turn take notice of the plight faced by the students of any sorts. So choosing NLU Assam as my Law school was the best decision ever.
