Admission Process and Scholarships at AJCBC, Kolkata

The Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose college is one of the most famous colleges in Kolkata. I choose this college due to several reasons; one is its prime location, second it's placement in good brands, offices and companies. My seniors recommended me that the teachers and the teaching methods are very nice of the college. In many colleges that come under Calcutta University, there is a lot of strictness regarding attendance. It is a very big problem because if you want to pursue any external degree or course like CA, CMS or CS then it's very difficult for you to attend college. But here, attendance is not much of an issue and this is one of the biggest reasons of which I chose this college.

I choose B.Com honors in Accountancy. The entry requirements for this college are minimum 60% in your 10 + 2 school examination. There are two methods of admission in this college. First is the government based centralised system of administration, and second is through the college online portal. You can pursue any one of these methods. There are 8 semesters in B.Com honors for 4 years and each semester is in a gap of 5 to 6 months. This college will prepare you to face the real world challenges very well because of their internship program with MSME brands and companies.

The admission fees is Rs. 11,400 and the semester wise fees for 4 year is Rs. 13,400 which includes the tuition fee of Rs. 1,000 and others are the maintenance, magazines and online fees; which gives a free Wi-Fi option. You can avail the Swami Vivekananda scholarship and the Kanyashree scholarship as well. If you belong from other categories like OBC, you may get a discount too.

Most of the teachers are well educated and passed from reputed colleges. The backgrounds of the faculty members are also not bad for this college and their method of teaching is mainly using a white board and group discussion. They also use smart projectors to teach digitally and make the student understand the topic very well. If you have any doubt in your subject, the teachers will always allow you to go to the staff room and ask about the doubts. The bonding between the teachers and the students are very friendly. The teachers also make their students feel comfortable, so the student does not hesitate to approach them.

In present, our college is affiliated with Flipkart and Amazon. The average package is 3 LPA to 4 LPA and the highest is around 6 LPA. I am pursuing MBA course so I have not accepted the placement but it is no doubt one of the best placements.

The college does not offer any hostel facility.

The college is of 12 floors. The classrooms are very big, with a seating capacity of 100 to 200 students. They are well maintained, with a whiteboard, a digital projector, and a smart projector to teach the students. There are library halls, seminar hall, auditorium, conference hall, and a canteen, which is not less than the modern café. In sports, we get a gym. Security and other facilities of the college are very well.

I experienced a very decent campus life. There are many clubs in our college. I have taken part in many extracurricular activities, which are organised by our college. Festivals like Durga Puja, Saraswati Puja, and Kali Puja are organised by the college student committee where each and every student can participate. We enjoy, dance, eat, and there is no boredom in the college. The fees are also taken in your semester fees so there are no extra fees, which are to be pay for these events.
