B.Tech in Computer Science at GHRCE: Admission, Fees, and Academics

It is going to be my third year at G. H. Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur and my experience at this institute has been great, talking about the courses, facilities, faculties everything was as I expected. The factors that made me choose this college is the city Nagpur and college fees both are affordable. The placements are good enough. The college is autonomous. The one thing I found at this college, which is not anywhere else, is the academic culture and admission process.

I had chosen the B.Tech course in Computer Science stream. The reason behind this decision was simple, like I always wanted to become a Computer Engineer. The entry requirements for this course were based on MHTCET exam score. The cut off at my time went up to 90% for open category. The admission process is so simple you have to fill the CAP round forms for the MHTCET and then you will be allotted to the institute if you are selected, then you have to visit the college for the document and fee submission to confirm your seat. I've to give exams three times in the course I've chosen, two are unit tests which are of 15 marks each and you've your endues at the last of 50 marks. Talking about the academics, it really prepares you for the real world applications, like along with the coding they also teach you the practical subjects like communication, interview preparation, & industry ethics.

The fees I have to pay for the course I selected is somewhere around Rs. 92,000 per year. This was my fee for the second year but I have paid around 1.07 Lakh for the first year of college and I am talking this about the OBC category. The fees includes you tuition fees, which is around Rs. 60,000, and then you have your exam fees, admission fee, gym fees etc. After your first year, you get discount offers up to two to three percent for paying fee in advance.

The faculties for all the courses are really well qualified like most of them are either PhD holders for graduated from top institutions like IIT's and NIT's. Most of them are good at teaching because of their great experience. Every teacher have their different methods of teaching, some prefer PPT some teaches on whiteboard, it depends on the subject too. The teacher to student ratio is also good enough. My personal experience was great with all the faculties except few of them are strict and not understanding.

The placements of GHRCE Nagpur are good enough. We also have placement cell in the college to guide and help the students regarding placements. In the final year, you have to do 6-month internship, which boost student's resume, and real life experience. Many companies visit the college for recruitment like Capgemini, TCS, Cognizant, Accenture, Mahindra, and many more. Average package offered by companies lie between 4 LPA to 5 LPA, it depends on your skill. Being a third, year student I do not really have my own experience, but you can consider the things, which I explained above.

Now let us discuss about the campus infrastructure and building. Therefore, to be honest the campus is too small, it is just like the main building, and big area for parking and the campus is done. I've to appreciate the main building like it's really well built and beautiful. The classrooms and labs are spacious and well equipped. Academic facilities like library, labs, seminar hall, auditorium everything is available even if the campus size is small so no complain about that. The food of the college canteen is good and tasty. You get chance to participate in all the sports activities but you have to visit other campus for that. My favorite part of my college campus is our canteen; all the friends gathered in the break and is really is a good place to chill and hangout.

College life at our college is interesting and active, the crowd of student is mix of various different backgrounds, which helps to learn more things with the help of everyone, and I am an active member of IEEE society in the college. Therefore, you get lot of chances to increase your network and improve your skills. The college has many different activities and annual fest called Antaragni, which is the best part of the year. All in all my experience has been fulfilling, with a great balance of academics and other activities.
