Choose Dayanand College of Commerce Latur for B.Com

Dayanand College of Commerce, Latur, is one of the most reputed institutions in Latur for commerce education. I have had a mostly positive experience so far, with a few areas that could improve. I chose this college because the teaching quality is quite good. Most faculty members are well qualified especially in subjects like accountancy, economics, and business mathematics. In addition, the college allows nominal admission meaning that the students will not have to attend the lectures regularly. They can simply show up for exams and submissions. If they want, I attend their classes for CA, CS, or any other competitive exams they are free to do so.

I have chosen Bachelor of Commerce general (granted division). The syllabus matches with my interests and the professors help it be more interesting. To get an admission in granted division one must score at least 80% in their class 12th board exams. In case a student does not have 80%, they can go for non-grant division. The non-grant division has options for Bachelor of Commerce with specializations i.e. Bachelor of Commerce with Accounting and Taxation, Bachelor of Commerce with Computer Applications and so on. The fee is relatively much low and affordable. Hence, it can be a great opportunity for the students to get such quality education in such fewer fees. The exams are always conducted on time and they are frequent. There is an internal exam worth 20 marks per subject and an external exam worth 80 marks at the end of each semester. The practicals and submissions are done a month before each exam.

For the students who managed to get the granted division by scoring above 80% in their class 12th board exams, there is no fee. Your education here is free. For the non-grant division it may range from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 21,000 for the entire duration of your degree. Still extremely affordable. Therefore, my education here is free since I am from granted division. There may be admission fee of 500 for the non-grant division. SC/ ST students are provided a stipend of Rs. 10,000 each month as a financial aid for their college or exam fees.

Almost all of the professors teaching in my batch have completed their Masters or Post-Graduation. They are all well spoken, very approachable, and extremely helpful to the students. They all are very kind and will help you understand all the concepts well. They all use Interactive White Boards that are installed in the classes and they use videos to help students understand in a visual manner. The college is well staffed and the student - teacher ratio is good. My experience with bonding with the faculty members has been great as they are all very kind and professional when it comes to handling students. They are well experienced and will not refuse to help. In fact, they are very eager to help students in their academics.

We have a placement cell and are very active. The cell helps students train and develops skills necessary for their jobs. They also prepare the students for job interviews and help them secure their spot. The companies that usually visit are Capgemini, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys, and Wipro. With Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro being the highest recruiters. We have also had students secure their spot in Deloitte. The average package of last year was 2.3 LPA and is expected to rise this year.

The college has hostel facility for the students. There are 2 different hostels for boys and the girls. Both the hostels have canteens for food. Food is average. However, a bit greasy in my opinion. It is not very bad and tastes fine. I am not a hostel resident so I am not very sure about the fee structure. However, I have heard it is just as affordable as the tuition fee. Students are free to be outside the hostel until 10pm. After that, the gates are closed. They must be back in the campus by 10 PM.

The campus is a bit small but decent in size. The trees all around the campus really compliment the vibe. It has a mini garden with a Lotus pond in the centre. It is covered in greenery and has a very aesthetic vibe. It feels very great to take a walk around after an exhausting class or exam or if you have just had your lunch. Each class of this college can seat 100 students. There is a huge library with all kinds of books that you can borrow. There are even events prepared by the library itself. The person with the most book reviews and the person with the most books read are awarded a trophy and a certificate at the annual festival. There is a seminar hall within the campus for guest talks and ceremonies. There is a separate college auditorium for performances and other cultural events. There is a college canteen. There is a doctor available at the hostel. Each gate has a security guard. My favorite thing about this college is the Lotus pond.

My overall campus life is not much great since I am a nominal student and do not visit the campus so frequently. Sports days are celebrated and are very encouraged. However, whenever I do I absolutely enjoy the vibes there. It is super calm and peaceful. College crowd is average. There are sports clubs. There are cultural events that the college hosts. There is an annual event as well. Students are busy throughout the year. My experience has been average but good.
