Freshmen’s Views about RGUNL Patiala

Overall Rating
I wish RGUNL Patiala was among top 10 NLUs while I feel it should be along top 5. Some of my friends are in other branches and when we say together, we all agreed that this one is better than theirs is. In the setup that we have here, we were introduced to the seniors and fresher’s party opened me up completely. Overall, there is a lot to be said in favor of my university such as academics are amazing here. Faculties are fantastic and infrastructure is much better is probably the first that has started using renewable source of energy.
 

Academics Rating
Academics here are very high quality as we had proper BA and Law subjects & they are divided so well. There is one thing about legal studies is that one has to enjoy and be as involved as they possibly can. Not just national cases or case studies but was privileged to study one of the most iconic case study of John D Rockefeller. Research work is provided from the second semester and our university has proper research centre
Fee is increased this year as last year it was 2.7 Lakh but we paid 2.92 Lakh. this is just the university fees as for hostels we have to pay another Rs. 90,000, which includes mess fees too.
 

Faculty Rating
All our faculties are good/ they are all smart and strict too. However, their strictness has never turned into anger. Some of them stay at campus, so one can take their help after the classes too. They always teach us with a smile and have a wonderful attitude. The best is even though our course is so lengthy they have never made us feel burdened.
 

Placement Rating
One thing that I noticed during placements is that faculties are actively involved in placement activities at our university. Top Law firms which are dream for any Law students comes for placements at our university and some corporate houses too have joined hands with our university for placements.
 

Hostel Rating
The University has top-notch hostels and one more is getting ready. Since, I am in my first year, I have to stay in the double room or otherwise single room options are also available but after 3rd year. AC rooms, beautiful lobby, and a TV room are available for the students. Mess is the only complaint, as it is small and therefore gets overcrowded often and the food served is also average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
I have been to 3 other NLUs so far and our infrastructure when compared to those is far better. The only issue though is that we are from main town of Patiala. Facilities are well maintained, our campus is lush green, and new construction is on as well. Our academic block, auditorium, and library are well equipped. Among amenities, we have a general store, ATM, a café and a recreation centre. In addition, an ambulance is there at the campus and a medical centre is inside the campus.
 

Campus Rating
We have two fests and they are ‘Yaar Dildaar’ and ‘Ritvaan’. ‘Yaar Dildaar’ is a promotional fest where the culture of Punjab is promoted and Ritvaan is our main cultural fest. Besides them we also have, annual sports meet called ‘Zelus’ and in the sports, fest students and teams from other NLUs are invited. Seniors are good and there is nothing as if even though nearly half the crowd is from Punjab students do not face any form of discrimination at the campus.

    As far as the factors that made me choose this college, I think the most important milestone for me was my rank. I got this college on All India rank 850 in CLAT in the year 2022. This college was allotted to me in the first list. After that, I had the chance to go to other colleges via vacancy but I didn't.     My overall experience has been great at this university. It has lot to offer if you are proactive student. It is not a spoon-feeding kind of place, which means you need to hustle to make the most of the opportunities available. The support system is there, and the environment pushes you to grow, both academically and personally.
