B.Sc (Hons.) at SKUAST Srinagar through ICAR Exam

This university is fantastic. It has well qualified and dignified faculty, providing a student friendly environment for learning and research. University is located in the best location of the country. The SKUAST Srinagar campus is bound with beautiful mountains and a safe and protected area. The university provides one to one learning platform that is different from other institutions. I chose this based on my personal dream to serve the farmers of my community and the best platform to study the farming was provided here.

I chose B.Sc (Hons.) Horticulture as my undergraduate course. Currently I am perusing Masters in Horticulture from the same university. The history, success, rank of the students who have passed from this prestigious university encouraged me to join here. Entry requirements for the students of Jammu And Kashmir, they need to appear in university entrance test conducted by university, also you can enter through ICAR entrance test conducted by ICAR every year. In each semester, there are two exams midterm and end term, along with two quizzes and practical examinations. Faculty is highly qualified and there and encourage us. They prepare us for real life challenges.

At the time of admission fee is Rs. 43,000 for first semester including hostel fees, hostel security, and library security fee. Hostel security and library security fee are refundable after completion of degree. After second semester fee is Rs. 24,300 per semester (including hostel fees). This fee is same for all categories except NRI quota students they have approximately 10 Lakh per semester. University provides scholarship to its Masters and PhD students and also merit cum scholarship is given to meritorious students.

Faculty members are great in teaching; their skill of teaching is modern and one to one. They have student oriented and quality approach. The faculty members are mostly from the background of agriculture studies and allied sectors. Method of teaching is PPTs, group discussions, practical field visits and training. Students to teacher ratio is 5 is to 1. Teachers are very polite and kind, they have a solid concept of their specific subjects they are always available whenever needed

Placements happen frequently and consistently. It helps students to find their dream job and dream profession. Recently Reliance Bio Energy, LIC, HDFC bank, Bayer Agro Chemicals, Syngenta Agro Chemicals, and other reputed companies of the country did placements drives in our prestigious university. Package offered was 2 Lakh to 12 Lakh per annum. Recently I was selected as farm manager in Reliance Bio Energy and currently I am working with the company in Punjab, earning 10 Lakh- 12 Lakh from the company.

This university has one of the best hostels. There are about 150-200 rooms available in the hostel with all facilities of water, electricity, internet, ventilation and heating system. Boys and girls hostels are separate. Mess is separate for vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Cooks are well skilled and food is hygienic. Hostel fees is Rs. 9,800 per semester and for food almost Rs. 2,000- Rs. 3,000 per month. One of the best thing about this university is its hostel life hat and you’ll remember it for years.

This university has 7 departments, including department of Horticulture, Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Veterinary Science, Agro Engineering and many more. Our campus is located in Shalimar, which is also main campus of the university. It has 100s of research universities associated. Campus size is 200 acre. Classrooms are modern and digital. Seating capacity is 1000. Canteen is available at university as well in hostel, which is open 24/7. My favorite things in university are, my hostel, gym, mess and hostel play ground.

Campus Life is beautiful and memorable. University is best and has an extraordinary crowd. Activities like yoga, sports weeks, national festivals etc are held at campus. I am blessed to have studied here. I highly recommend this university.
