PES University ranks among the top private universities in Karnataka, and even in the top private universities in India, for Engineering. The crowd here is brilliant, with some amazingly talented people, and with some very helpful seniors, who at all times are ready to help you, be it exams, fests, club related activities, or just life in general. I chose this University because the placements here were on par with some of the best universities for Engineering in India. The competition is amazing, and instead of being depressing, pushes you to do better every time. The faculty is knowledgeable, are experienced, and well qualified, especially in their domains, as they have published various papers, often collaborating with students.

I chose B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, as I have been interested and passionate about this subject and especially in coding. However, they have now changed it to be JEE being the criteria for it. For Karnataka students, you can get in through JEE, or KCET. The fee structure is different based on the joining procedure. You would need around 90 to 95 percentile in JEE Main to get a confirmed seat in the counseling process. We have 2 Internal Semester Assessments in a Semester, along with an End Semester Assessment. The academics test every part of the syllabus and prepares you well for not only the different coding tests top companies take, but also prepares you for the interview process.

The year wise fee of CSE is 4.8 Lakh, which includes Rs. 10,000 for exam fees, 4.21 Lakh for tuition fees, Rs. 11,426 for Library fee and Rs. 37,574 being Other fees. There are three types of scholarships you can avail, if you are in the top 5% of the batch, it fetches you 50% scholarship. Being in the top 25% of the batch fetches you 40% scholarship. Getting a 7.75+ GPA is rewarded with a Rs. 2,000 amount.

The faculty is well qualified, knowledgable, and often keep on publishing research papers, collaborating with students ever so often. Most of the faculty are PhD holders, from reputed colleges. Most of the teaching is done by monitors, and rarely chalkboards are used. Students are encouraged to get an hands-on experience whenever possible. The faculty are easy to reach out and are helpful to solve any doubts that one might have. For each subject, there are about 60 students on every one teacher.

The placement cell at the institute is well versed, and makes sure to have top companies hire many students. The university holds many workshops before the placement drive, to make the students ready for the industry jobs. The average placement package was 16 LPA in 2025, a recession year. The highest package was 65 LPA with the median being 12 to 13 LPA. The top companies visiting were Apple, Google, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, IBM, Netflix, and Nvidia.

The hostel offers residential facilities for each year students. For the first year students, a room with 4 beds (2 bunk beds) is provided, with spacious rooms, 4 desks, 4 cupboards. 2 study halls and a mess hall are on every floor-end. From the second year, the hostel is within the university premises, with each room accommodating 3 students, with 2 different messes to choose from. The girls and boys hostel are separate. The mess food is good, with new food items almost every day. Each Sunday dinner consists of a mini Feast. The hostel fees are 4.1 Lakh, with Rs. 30,000 being the caution deposit, which is returned once you leave the hostel. For the first year students the curfew timings are 7:30 PM, though you can enter after, if you inform the warden beforehand. From the second year onwards, it is 10 PM. Staying in the hostel is amazing.

The campus has an engineering block for the Computer Science, AI-ML, and Electronics students. Another block is for the Management students, and adjacent to it is the block for Nursing and Pharmacy students. The Electronic City campus also houses a Hospital, for the Nursing and Pharmacy students. The campus is spread over an area of about 50 acres. The campus is located on the Hour Road, about a kilometer away from Electronic City. The classrooms are well equipped, with proper seating arrangements to accommodate around 60 students. Each room is equipped with a TV monitor that the teachers use for presentations and lectures. The campus also includes a 3-floored Library, which houses almost every Engineering Resource book needed, with also a digital library every student can access. There are 2 Physics Lab, 2 Chemistry Labs, 1 VLSI Lab, and 2 seminar halls on very floor, upto the fifth floor. The campus also has The MRD Auditorium, enough to hold around 500 people. There are 2 canteens in the Engineering block, 1 in the Pharmacy block, and 1 in the MRD Auditorium's ground floor. The campus also has a cricket ground, as well as a football ground. The university provides around 50 University buses for transportation. The campus looks beautiful and modern.

The campus life here is amazing. The university crowd is competitive, in a good way. They push you and inspire you to become better. There are around 40 clubs, though I am not a part of any. There are about 10 clubs on Computer Science alone. The university organises one university fest per campus. Maya is held at the Electronic City campus, held at the beginning of an odd semester, while Aatmatrisha is held at the Ring Road campus, at the beginning of even semesters. Along with these, the various clubs keep on organizing hackathons, quizzes, and other events almost every month. The campus life though is not as bright or seemingly, fun as other universities’ is still amazing.
