Student's Experience at JECRC Jaipur: Internships, Placements, and Activities

My experience was average. The college is decent with presence of basic amenities needed to live the 4-year journey of B. Tech. The students here are good and active as mostly have appeared for competitive exams like JEE. The faculty is decent and infrastructure is quite good, clean, and new labs and classrooms are being built. The fees of this college is quite low compared to other private colleges so return of investment is good if you work hard on your skills and get placement. Overall college is good for people who do not have much high score in JEE and are near Rajasthan region.

I chose CSE because the number of companies coming for placements is more for CSE and you will get good peer group as well. In addition, I had a personal interest in software engineering that is why I chosen it. To take admission in this college, you have to appear for REAP counseling which alloys college based on your JEE Main score and boards percentage. Also some direct admission seats also available here. In each semester, there are two midterm tests, an external practical exam, and a final theory exam of RTU. Subjects in CSE prepare well us for placements and computer real application.

The annual fee at my time was Rs. 85,000 for CSE. Right now, it is increased to Rs. 95,000 as far as I know. There is caution money of Rs. 7,500, which they take during admission. Scholarship is available for girls and TFWS seats also available. There is a discount offer of about 20% on college fees, which is given to a student if he/she pays the fees of next or next two semesters in advance.

Most of the faculty has done M. Tech. The faculty of CSE department is decent and they know well about the topics that will appear in exams so they cover up syllabus on time usually. Practical knowledge imparted by them could be improved. They generally use traditional blackboard chalk system to teach and give many assignments. I did not feel that we needed more teachers. Teachers are generally approachable but students also have to study on their own if they really need to understand subject clearly and score good marks.

There is an active placement cell in our college. 3rd year students need to attend campus recruitment training of 3 months to be able to sit in college placements. The highest package as per the college website is 32 LPA from Amazon. Talking about second and third highest on-campus offer. It was from Wayfair and HPE. Very few students were selected for them. The lowest package was off from TCS of about 3.5 LPA. The average package offered as per college website is around 5 to 6 LPA. Most of the companies are service based and tech companies come for Salesforce roles. Other off campus recruiting companies were TCS, Accenture, Capgemini, Haselden, L&T Infotech, Celebal technologies, ZS, HP, Cognizant, etc. Most of the internships are applied off- campus by students . And number of internships provided by college is not very high though. Most of the students of CSE department was placed as Software Engineer, Data Analyst, and Business Analyst profiles. Few went for higher studies and some went on to do their startup.

Talking about hostel. There are 2 boys’ hostels and 1 girl’s hostel. Their condition is not as good as most of the rooms have a common bathroom. The mess food is decent and we have special meals on Sundays and snacks with tea on every evening. The canteen provides good food and snacks and it is in good condition.

The infrastructure of college and our CSE department is average. There are 5 blocks in our college that is A, B, C, D and E. Each block has its own working. Classes of CSE department from 2nd year take place in A block. The computer labs are small but almost all systems are in good condition. There is a big and spacious library with good amount of books. One library is in A block and the other is in C block, which is for first year students. Classrooms are not that attractive and big like IITs but they are enough spacious and properly ventilated. There is smart board in some classrooms but they also have a green board. There are two grounds for playing cricket and football. One badminton court and one volleyball court in front of boy’s hostel. There is no specific medical clinic but there are first aid facilities available at every block.

The college has many social clubs but there are very few technical clubs, which include the robotics club called Xananoids. There is no specific coding club but there is a program called Geeksforgeeks student chapter, which aims at competitive programming and coding. Recently Toastmasters club has also been started in our college, which focuses on the art of public speaking. Our college annual fest "Renaissance" is highly anticipated and a large-scale event, which comes under, top 5 college fests in Rajasthan. Various hackathons are also conducted periodically. We have our Music band Avian and art and poetry clubs.
