SST Bangalore Provides Admission in B.Sc+MS through NSET Exam

As per the overall review is considered I would definitely rate it an 8 out of 10. Scalar School Of Technology, has provided me the opportunity to grow and understand how the skills matter more than a degree. Being a small college by area and new at infrastructure, most students think, it has nothing to explore; however, we do have fests, celebrations, participation in co-curricular as well . The overall accommodation facility provided is good. More precisely, the faculty and Academics is a great made choice! There are instructors coming from different known companies, some being data scientist, some SDE level, while some being full stack developer, we get the right kind of guidance. Talking about the administration and management, there are a few drawbacks we have however, with the good peer energy & active student council; we definitely have a way out! One thing that makes it stand out from other Colleges is their environment, surrounded by tech companies around & likeminded peers. It focuses more on skill building than theory. This is all the experience I can share as a first year student.

The course I went for is B.Sc in Computer Science + MS from BITS Pilani as a degree option that they provide, along with specialisation in AI/ML. The entry requirements is to be above 20 years, having 60%+ in PCM alongside, you need to appear for their entrance exam NSET (National Scholarship & Entrance Test), students coming from JEE background having an idea of PCM better, will be easily able to clear it. They have Scheduled PI rounds that may be 1, 2 or 3 depending upon their level of satisfaction. After students receive their offer letter, they get on boarding form and other details. They are been guided by their appointed counselors who convey all the information regarding the campus, fees, scholarships to them & their parents. The exams are divided into two types, one: Scalar exam, second being: BITS exam. The scalar exam happens once every month, especially for first year students. They have mid-semester exams & end-semester exams in accordance to the pace of their syllabus. The BITS exam happens after every 3 months. The academic life being rigorous, because apart from the regular CGPA, CGR; we also have to go for hackathons, participate in different activities related to academics or co-curricular. Also, the Competitive programming trend is quite happening here.

The year wise fee is approximately Rs. 5,00,000/- as of now. There are some seat blocking fee which is Rs. 75,000/-. Registration fees for NSET is around Rs. 1,000/-. Extra charges taken as safety fee is Rs. 50,000/-. There are no special discounts for specific category students. However, they do have scholarships. They are merit based, if the student has exceptionally done well in their boards & JEE, they do waive some fees off. Also, if someone wants to avail scholarship in their second year, they need to have overall CGR (Cumulative grading record) of >= 9.5. Also, if you received scholarship in your first year, and you need to maintain it in the 2nd year too, then you need to be absolutely clean with your personal record...no indiscipline, alongside >= 7.5 CGR in every exam is mandatory.

The faculties here are great. Kshitij Mishra, our dean & instructor is himself an alumni from IIIT H, has an exceptionally great teaching style. Other faculties include Mrinal Bhattacharya, a full stack developer, well-versed with the company level skills who have been our Web Development instructor. Priyanshi Sirohi, Nischal Shetty & Suraaj Hasijaa are few people who help us with Mathematics. Coming to Data Analytics, Pulkit sir himself being a data Scientist, has helped us understand basics of Python Libraries. We have a projector where laptop's screen gets shared , The instructors address to some 150-200 students at once and once they get done with the theory , they help us with the code implementation. Students can raise doubts. The instructors are always ready to help. On scale of 10 , I would definitely rate the student to faculty bonding a 9 on 10. They are quite approachable. We get clear cut solutions on anything we wish to ask & clarify!

The placement cell is indeed there at SST, Bangalore, handled by the management and student driven. 96% report of successful industry emersion by the students through projects, internships and building startups has been received. There are yet no graduates as the 1st batch is in their 2nd year as of now. However, surprisingly, there are students receiving 2 LPA package from Bali, Singapore, Germany in their 2nd year itself. Each one having internship offers from 2-3 companies as of now. The recorded estimates also show students in their 1st year who have cracked ICPC , SoC and also went for SIH finals. Wipro, Wealthy, Google, Microsoft, TCS, Zanier, Infosys are some companies that visits our campus for recruitment.

The hostel is quite average. The college offers residential facilities and that too mandatory for 1& 2nd year students. They are accommodated in a well known tower (UNIWORLD). It is close to market and other facilities . There are around 70-80 rooms on each floor. Having options on double sharing/ triple sharing according to choice of fees. Wardens & security guards are available every time. They are quite well versed of managing students and their issues properly. Girls and Boys hostels are not separate. However, we have strict segregation & CCTVs for monitoring activities. We are having 2 common areas. Curfew timings are 10:30. We also have dedicated staffs for attendance at 10:30 to ensure everyone is here in the hostel. We have reading rooms at the terrace, a TV room & a playing area. My personal experience is quite good . However the mess food is average only. You can obviously opt in or opt out of it and it totally depends on your own way. Rest assured, it is a fun place.

The campus has one building , We have reception and innovation labs on the ground floor. We have an infirmary (sick room), alongside we also have SSB(Scalar School of Business) for Post Grads pursuing business studies. The size of the classrooms is enough to accommodate 200 people each. Alongside that, we have different pods where we can study in peace or work without disturbance. Underground, we have cafeteria serving mess food and a canteen for people who wish to go for something else. The sports ground have turf area, having a football ground, basketball court, badminton court(in progress), alongside a space for some kind of gathering and buses are aligned there. Earlier, we had paid bus facilities, but now everyone can utilise it without any payment. Having the facility of projectors for live demonstration and in-class coding experience. As of now, we don't really have a library, but we do have our book collection. The campus is located just 1.5 kms from our hostel.

The overall campus life at SST, Bangalore is good. The college has some 800 students including seniors and us as of now. There are multiple clubs including tech and non-tech clubs like CP club, OSS club & AI/ML club as tech clubs and 404 studios (content branding club), E-Cell, Cultural club, sports club, etc. as non-tech club. There are multiple committees having rigorous selection process through exams and interviews such as Event Management committee, the Food committee, Placement committee, Leadership development club, etc. I am a core member of E-cell, it has been a great experience so far working with such a great team with so many brainstorming ideas and skills. Also, been a part of food committee and served tirelessly, worked with our senior wardens. Honestly, we did not yet have a fest but we had orientation meet up (where we had fun meet & engaging activites and had lots of fun). Then we had 2 fresher parties in a row. We celebrated various occasions like Diwali, Holi, Independence day, Republic day, etc. with great enthusiasm.
