Government College of Engineering B.Tech Review By Niraj Dhandale

I wanted to pursue mechanical engineering and for that there is no other better place than Government College of Engineering Aurangabad because of some obvious reasons like placements (especially in mechanical). The number of placements is much higher in mechanical department compared to other colleges at same level i.e. government autonomous. In addition to these placements for other branches is also high. College in addition to placements provides other facilities too like there are lot of technical and non technical clubs for personality development. Other basic facilities like gymkhana, basketball and badminton court, hostel, volleyball and cricket grounds etc.

The college provides B.Tech degree, and there are six total branches which includes computer science, information technology, Electronics and telecommunications, Mechanical, electrical and civil. To get into GECA Aurangabad one must be 12th pass and must have good percentile in CET exam. Being government autonomous the cutoffs are really high so one should ensure that they have high percentile especially to get cs and it.

Most of the faculties are PhD in their respective areas, especially the HOD's of departments. Teaching is good unless you get visiting faculties. Some of them believe in orthodox teaching, and some taught by modern methods like PPTs and animation. Overall teaching is great and I enjoy the faculties.

Yes, our college has the placement cell. It helps students by organizing seminars and conferences. T & P of our college works consistently and make sure that everyone gets chance to sit for interviews and get placed. The placement record is high and the average package is around 5 to 6 LPA.

Hostels are available for both girls as well as boys. College makes sure that every girl gets allotted to the hostel, but limited seats are available for boys, which are selected on a merit basis. All the basic facilities that are required are available. College also provides permission to celebrate festivals and to perform functions and DJ Night in hostel.

College campus is situated in Osmanpura, Aurangabad. It is big and beautiful. The college being old was established in 1960; its environment is very much pleasing with trees all around, gardens old buildings which are pleasant to watch. All the modern facilities are also available. Auditorium, courts and grounds just add the cherry on cake.

Annual fest like gathering, wings (technical fest), sports week, are organized. Clubs like teams Aryans racing, cybrotics etc provide wide range of technical knowledge. Team Aryans racing is a group of 25 to 30 people who work together to design manufacture and fabricated of AWD all terrain vehicle and every year participates in Baja SAE event. The team has good record in the competition it has been AIR 2 twice in 2018 and 2020. Other cultural club include Kalaarpan which is also a successful in their respective field.
