Ravenshaw University is one of the oldest University of Odisha. It has great alumni network with many IAS Officers, OAS officers, famous Poets, etc. The faculty members and the assistant professors of the University are experts in the field of providing education to the youth. It gives students an environment that makes them feel that they can also achieve something big in their life.

I am pursuing my B.A (Hons.) in Education. My aim is to become a teacher in future so I have chosen this course. Eligibility criterion for enrollment in this University is based 12th Standard scores. On the basis of the marks secured, students are selected for the course they applied for. After the selection, document verification is done in the respective departments. The University not only provided theoretical knowledge but also provide practical knowledge to students.

The fees at the time of admission is Rs. 3000/-. And that has to be paid at the time of filling the application form. Scholarship program are there for students by Odisha government.

Faculty members are very friendly and supportive in nature. They always support students in their problems and help them with academics. All types of methods are been used by the faculty like PPT presentation, whiteboard, ground discussion, experiments etc. The University maintains a good teacher student ratio. Well qualified professors are present in the department to help the student. They always help students in decision making for future and to solve the current issues. My personal experience with the faculty members is really good and they always support me as per my need.

The University organises placement every year before the graduation of students. So that they can get a chance of being placed.

In Ravenshaw University hostel facility are provided both for girls and boys. Studens from different states also came here to study. There is a total of 6 boys’ hostel and 6 girls’ hostel inside the campus. And a boy’s hostel outside the campus located at a walking distance of 1 - 1.5 km. Safety for both girls and boys is ensured. Admission in hostel is selected on the basis of mark obtained and distance of the student’s residence from the campus; students within the area of 25 km are not eligible for the University hostel admission. Hostel fees vary according to economical background of the student. The hostel of boys is separate from the girls. Mess food is good and affordable too.

The University has a very beautiful campus, all the buildings are painted with red color and it is also known as the ‘Red Empire’. It is situated at a walking distance from the railway station. It includes academics block, seven pillar, cafeteria, hostel inside the boundary of campus, an indoor hall, separate gym for girls and boys, chief warden office, dispensary, experimental label-resource center, Kanika library, amphitheatre where events are organised and a ground which includes 2 cricket ground,1 football ground, a basketball ground and also a tennis court. Overall, the campus infrastructure is impressive and well organised and provides all the facilities that a student needs.

My overall campus life is fantastic. I enjoyed and learned allot and also gained a lot of academic knowledge from this University. The campus withholds a friendly and a supportive crowd. Different activities are been organised like essay writing, debates, story writing, drama, sports activities and many more. Events and fest have been conducted by the hostel. DJ nights are also arranged inside the campus at the time of event. Festivals are organised by the students themselves and during independence day and republic day an outstanding showcase of parade takes place by the NCC cadets.
